and you can't have Nowitski, he's the only thing holding up the German team!

You'd find it really hard to convince anyone that a team consisting of
Shaq
Duncan
Garnett
Kobe
McGrady
Kidd
Nowitzski
Iverson
Pierce
Allen
Ming
Carter
would lose a game in these tournaments.
BTW. Pierce did play in the world champs. Nowitski plays for Germany, and Ming plays for China.Comment

No defensive 3 seconds rule means those chumps can relax and camp out and under the hoop ALL DAY LONG. Eliminates most of the post and slashing game. Also allows Euros to only excel at defending the three. Thats pathetic. The Pistons had a fantastic gameplan for defending the Lakers, but even they couldn't stop both a dominant post-player and a dominant wing player...they had to choose, and work damn HARD to excecute...They couldn't rely on rules do the defending for them.
I refuse to say that because their game is tailored for shooting as the only real skill necessary...that they have gotten as skilled as us. Give me a break. When did ball handling in traffic cease being a skill? When did gritty defensive play cease being a skill? When did physical toughness in the post stop mattering? The international game gives them a pass on all 3.
Granted, the international game has improved to the point where the Americans can't easily overcome those factors, and thats good for everyone. Gives our youths something to think about. But at the same time, we didn't take the right personel to play that style of basketball in the first place. But, as long as NBC got their endorsment cash, who really cares. IMO, Their game is not better or worse than ours, just different.

Agreed. But we can no longer just roll the ball out and smoke people. We're playing with the same rules they are. How many backdoor layups did we give up this tourney.
The world has caught up, or has come very close. The NBA guys have been saying that for the last two weeks. We can spout about our superiority all we want. But the fact remains. We are 8-6, with a 3rd place and 6th place finish in the last 2 major world tourneys. That does say something, whether you want to admit it or not.
Now undoubtably, if we sent our best 12 players (Shaq, Kidd, Kobe, etc.) we would more than likely win the tourney. But the mere fact that we have to send those guys to win says a lot also.Comment

Re: Okay. I'm Starting To Change Mind
You don't see much. How many dominant post players are their in college? There are guys who can score from the inside, but how many teams have their offense truly built inside-out?
Now, correct me if I am wrong. Since the NBA has been so dreadful to watch, I cancelled my season pass, so I don't see it as much.Comment
