when you speak of dominace, your using it in the wrong sense with your argument

only in 92 did we smack everybody by 25, thats dominant...every other year we just won cause we played better...the whole idea of calling them the dream team is b/c they played like we never played before

        An age requirement is unconstitutional?

Again, tell me that Lebron wouldn't have a problem getting a job behind a bar.

Re: Okay. I'm Starting To Change Mind

this current usa team is our collegiate team. with the exception of a few players, this a young team, made up of mostly mid 20's to teens.

2 years of college ball isn't going to change anything, besides the colleges should not be there to farm talent for the pros. Colleges are for those who want to advance their education. If you don't want to advance your education, you want to play ball, then go to the pros.

MOst states have laws that prevent minors (under 21) being in a nightclub that serves alcohol.

Your hypothetical doesn't equate to the situation presented in basketball. There is no law that says 18 year olds can't play in the NFL or NBA. The only thing that prevents Mike Williams from playing in the NFL is a collective bargaining agreement.

More analagous would be an 18 year old trying to become a member of the IBEW and he's told that he's of no use because he' not 21.

There's too much deep thinking. The US had the most talented team from 1-12. They had the best players in the tournament. Yet, the desire was not there. Playing in the olympics is afterthought for most of these guys. The idea was to parlay olympic success into commercial success. Didn't happen.

Why? Defense. Throw out all the shooting stats. This Olympic team let the other guys shoot wide open shots, they didn't rotate, they watched as guys backdoor cut them to pieces, just terrible.

The americans are standing under the goal or running out for a fast break, when the other team is taking a wide open three.

Good point. The Int'l teams wanted it more. As long as the NBA is the premier league, its stars will never be hungry to whup the underdogs.

On the age limit, I actually agree that their should be one. Not just to exclude HS players because lets be realistic, the rate of success is much higher for those guys so far, because top-tier talent benefits from the higher competition level at an earlier age. LeBron got better this year than he EVER would have gotten dominating college boys.

The problem is that there are always 1-2 guys that come out that AREN'T top-tier talent that should have went to school. The trickle-down effect from that is that the better college players see the money highschoolers are getting, and it influences them to also want to get paid before their really ready to contribute. Its watering down the league.

Personally, I'd hate to force the youngsters with the talent to skip school(Bron, KG, Kobe, T-Mac) to languish for 2 years and not enjoy any of the money they generate(please don't bring up the education, they could buy a 4-year education 5x's over with the revenue dominant players generate for their respective schools), but the overall good of the league should take precedence.
