Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
According to ESPN, DeMarre Carroll could receive a four-year, $50 million contract in free agency this summer.
I know he had an outstanding Playoff run, but outside of Atlanta, I don't know if any team would be willing to pay that much.
Are these the type of deals we're expecting to see this summer before the TV deal renews the following year?Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I can't back paying Carroll that much unless he's absolutely perfect for filling the empty spot your team needs.
I don't think you can expect any big leap from what he gave this year, he's one of the better role players in the league but it's more of a specialized role.
He's not really good enough at either end to command that money. If he was a more "lock down" defender I could see it, or a better scorer I could see it. But I think there are other guys like him in the league, plenty of them, if given the opportunity he got.. For example, I don't think James Johnson is much behind him, Courtney Lee, Middleton, etc.
With a contract like that he'll be paid more than someone like Ariza.. Like I said I'm not against it, but it better be a damn good fit.

Why the issue with the numbers there. That's going to be peanuts once the new cap number is in.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Unless Carroll is either re-signing with ATL for that amount of money or taking his talents to one of this season's bottom feeders (PHI, NYK, LAL), I don't understand where he is going to get that kind of money THIS offseason...the cap isn't exploding until next offseason.XBL & PSN: zasbury25Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Most teams are going to be in the worst-case when they re-sign their own FAs or players don't opt out...the money they are talking for players like him this offseason is going to be slim. We're talking about a soon-to-be 29 year old that averaged less than 13pts/5rebs per game, not a Butler, Leonard, or Harris-type player still working into the prime of their career. If it ends up happening, good for him, but I just don't see it.XBL & PSN: zasbury25Comment

I'll let Dre have fun with this one since we know how much he loves "sources"

An NBA big shot who I know and trust just told me a coach is getting fired in next couple days, and nobody sees it coming.

- Not Thibs because that wouldn't be a surprise
- ATL's coach getting fired would be a surprise. He won coach of the year but his team looked pathetic in the ECF. Sometimes the coach has to take the fall for that.
- Kevin McHale? Doubt it.
- How about Frank Vogel? He should've been fired already.Comment

Let's pretend for a second this is true. Who would it be?

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
He's been there for 5 years. I understand Paul George was injured but 18 more losses in one year is a big drop off. What more can he really do? Similar to Scott Brooks IMO. And Brooks did way more with the Thunder than Vogel did with the Pacers.Comment
