So you want him to make these choices because they bother you? They don't seem to bother the team much.

Are these the type of deals we're expecting to see this summer before the TV deal renews the following year?
That doesn't surprise me. Lakers will show interest in him. They will offer him that I bet.

I can't back paying Carroll that much unless he's absolutely perfect for filling the empty spot your team needs.

I don't think you can expect any big leap from what he gave this year, he's one of the better role players in the league but it's more of a specialized role.

He's not really good enough at either end to command that money. If he was a more "lock down" defender I could see it, or a better scorer I could see it. But I think there are other guys like him in the league, plenty of them, if given the opportunity he got.. For example, I don't think James Johnson is much behind him, Courtney Lee, Middleton, etc.

With a contract like that he'll be paid more than someone like Ariza.. Like I said I'm not against it, but it better be a damn good fit.

Middleton will probably get just about as much. With the increased cap to come you're gonna see a lot of thoses high salaries for solid two way players.

Why the issue with the numbers there. That's going to be peanuts once the new cap number is in.

Unless Carroll is either re-signing with ATL for that amount of money or taking his talents to one of this season's bottom feeders (PHI, NYK, LAL), I don't understand where he is going to get that kind of money THIS offseason...the cap isn't exploding until next offseason.

Teams that have cap space this year and have RFAs for 2016 could benefit from paying him now and locking him down, and then resigning their guys next season.

It only takes one team, and I'm pretty sure Carroll is jumping at the biggest offer he gets regardless of fit.

Besides the teams I mentioned, who else has the cap space to sign him to a 4yr/$50m contract? Who in their right mind is going to renounce all of their free agents to sign Carroll to a contract like that when there are going to be far better players next season to sign. What players are going to opt out this season instead of staying one more season to make the big bucks in 2016? Unless some of the big free agents jump ship to another team, the market is going to be thin. Just look at the chart here:

Most teams are going to be in the worst-case when they re-sign their own FAs or players don't opt out...the money they are talking for players like him this offseason is going to be slim. We're talking about a soon-to-be 29 year old that averaged less than 13pts/5rebs per game, not a Butler, Leonard, or Harris-type player still working into the prime of their career. If it ends up happening, good for him, but I just don't see it.

Let's pretend for a second this is true. Who would it be?

                          - Not Thibs because that wouldn't be a surprise
                          - ATL's coach getting fired would be a surprise. He won coach of the year but his team looked pathetic in the ECF. Sometimes the coach has to take the fall for that.
                          - Kevin McHale? Doubt it.
                          - How about Frank Vogel? He should've been fired already.

He's been there for 5 years. I understand Paul George was injured but 18 more losses in one year is a big drop off. What more can he really do? Similar to Scott Brooks IMO. And Brooks did way more with the Thunder than Vogel did with the Pacers.

I'll add Dwayne Casey as a candidate for this rumor. 4 years and never past the first round. And finally, Terry Stotts as a darkhorse.
