If they take Towns/Okafor it kinda limits their improvement ceiling this summer unless they want to take a flier on Rondo.

I also have no idea how badly they're trying to please Kobe and try to field a competitive team ASAP or if they're willing to take the slower rebuilding path.
You might be right. I feel like there's a gap between Towns/Okafor and everyone else, but could be wrong on that. But that's the only reason I would think they'd consider trading for a name, rather than reaching for a position while passing on best available.

I don't think they try to appease Kobe so much as appease all of LA. They're used to having winners AND the Clippers are good. They can't afford to go full rebuild, even if they should.

Yeah it can def go either way. Towns would be ideal if they could land him since you can have him as your versatile, modern big man and still get Love or Aldridge who can obviously space the floor. Okafor though, I dunno. Okafor & Love/Aldridge is still a good offseason haul though you'd have some major defensive concerns.

Considering the Lakers don't have much in the way of foundation aside from Randle (though we haven't seen him) you just get whoever you think is BPA, concerns about fit put aside.

Get ready for media to start caring about TWolves again lol.

Lakers, even if they didn't win, still have interesting future, which sorta sucks to see. All the cap room they'll be having, combined with having Randle/#2 pick on their team next season. They really should just be rebuilding for now and once the cap goes up to the 90M or whatever it is,go out and buy the rest of the pieces they need, and they'll be back to the regular Lakers.

Knicks at 4th lol. I hope for 1 more season Knicks do horrible and Nuggets do bad too. I want that Raptors pick they traded for to be a top 10 pick!

Knicks apparently shopping the 4th pick though...what are they looking for exactly?

I think dropping to 4th isn't all that bad for the Knicks.

Russell or Mudiay, despite the uncertainty, are still great prospects to build around.

If it were me, I'd take Mudiay. Watching his YouTube highlights kind of remind me of John Wall.

Timberwolves absolutely need to draft Towns. Towns, Wiggins, and Rubio is going to be must see T.V. I think we can safely assume that the 1-2 picks are going to be Towns/Okafor (unless the Lakers take a huge reach ob Mudiay or Russell) in some order. I think it really gets interesting at Philly do they grab Russell or Mudiay? If you're the Knicks you could feasibly be choosing between Mudiay, Russell or even Okafor (because one could only assume if the Lakers make a reach pick the Sixers wouldn't pick ANOTHER big man right). Knicks must be sweating now.

I don't think we go with Mudiay unless we abandon the Triangle which I don't see happening due to Melo. Mudiay doesn't fit the system at all unfortunately, he must be in a typical drive-and-kick offense or you'll be limiting his effectiveness.

I think Mudiay will be a good pro though I think his athleticism is a tad overblown. I don't think he's on Wall or Rose's level like some have said.

Can Towns or Okafor play PF? If not..what will Wolves do with Pekovic/Dieng? One will have to go,unless someone can play PF.

If I were Wolves,I'd deal Pekovic this offseason. They won't be playoff contenders for a few more years,so no point having a guy getting 12M for multiple years, on a non playoff team.

If Mavs don't get Jordan, and let Chandler go,they could be trade option? Or Grizzlies,if Gasol leaves?

Dieng already spends some time at PF. He has decent shooting range and he's long and mobile.. Kinda like John Henson playing PF.

But Towns should be able to play PF, or at least transition into it eventually. We'll see how his shooting is, he definitely has some touch but I don't think he's just going to instantly show he's "a better shooter than he showed at Kentucky" like Red said. Not many players hit the league and are instantly better shooters than they were at the lesser level.

I believe Towns is being drafted as a power forward anyways.

But I still really want to see Okafor in Minny. Wiggins surprised me this season as a rookie, and I really think he can quickly develop into a Paul George like game.. I might be a little higher on Okafor than some but I think that's a legitimate chance to have a 20+ ppg perimeter scorer and a 20+ ppg low post scorer.

I'm not sold on Towns being a great defender, and as a power forward his strengths defensively in college aren't going to transition as well to the pros since he would be defending players away from the basket.. Unless somebody saw something in him that makes you believe he's the next Serge Ibaka, I don't see a reason to draft him based on defensive strengths.

If Minnesota keeps Pekovic, which I couldn't justify but it's Minnesota after all, then Towns is the better pick. But if they are moving away from that and building with their youth, I love Okafor going there.
