Danny Green is getting at least 8 million. High level 3 and D guys are worth money. And he's 27 so you're paying for hopefully his prime years. And the cap is exploding so 8 mil now is like 5 mil last year.

I'd give him 4/32 without hesitation. The fear he's a system guy is there just a bit, but being able to shoot and defend should translate.

Even as a system guy he would fit with any playoff team that has any sort of structure.

How much is Matt Barnes making? I think (considering his skill set) that's a decent floor to compare to for guys like Green.

So I'd give a younger, longer version a couple more a year. I don't know about 8 mil for Green. I think he's pretty much as good as he's gonna get. But maybe 6 mil? And depend on the years, I don't know.

Green is also a much better shooter in a league trending more and more towards properly valuing that skill.

Barnes is hardly a measuring stick for Green (even just contractually speaking). He's a much more consistent shooter (3's too) than Barnes as you said. I'm not looking at actual stats, just going by what I see on the court.

Jodie Meeks got slightly over 6 mil a year for 3 years, so expect Green to get at least that. With the cap jumping the following summer, I could see someone giving him 8 a year.

If he was a free agent next season when the cap explodes, I could see him getting in excess $8M. But if he chooses to leave SA this offseason, I can't envision him getting more than the full MLE if he chooses to go to a playoff team. Atlanta and Dallas are playoff teams that could have ample room to go above that, but I only see that being a possibility if they lose their own FAs (Carroll) or someone opts out (Monta Ellis). To get more than the MLE, he'd have to sign with someone like NYK or LAL and I don't know if he'd go for that just to make a couple million extra.

BTW, Green was a 44% FG with 42% 3Pt FG (#7 in the league) shooter this past season...very good spot up shooter, not so good creating his own shot.

Idk why he would leave the Spurs. With Manu surely gone soon he's about to get as many, or more, minutes than he would anywhere else and can likely get paid more for staying.

I think a team should be embarrassed to have to start Matt Barnes in the playoffs so I'm not a huge fan of his, but I don't know if I'd say Green's all that much better as a shooter. I think his potential is better all around, but as of right now I think the difference between the two is marginal depending on the situation.

Not sure it matters though so let's try a different name. How about Ariza? Thought of him when reading zasbury's last post. Ariza was in a similar situation and chose the money... I could see Green being compared to him.

Think Okafor still might go number 1 IMHO. Some people are against it but I can see us drafting best big + signing Rondo. Everyone keeps talking about us at 2 what about the 27 pick? Justin Anderson to me would be an perfect choice.

Problem with signing Rondo is he's still a good basketball player (barely) but his attitude and just overall game will not help the Lakers imo. As long as Byron Scott still is coaching the Lakers and has his archaic "three pointers say wat?" belief it's gonna hold you guys back imo. Not to mention the thought of Rondo and Scott clashing sounds awful...

Think Rondo could work if he's allowed to run the show. Think the stuff with him in Dallas was more so Carlisle wanting to run it his way and Rondo wanting to do his. Think in the right situation he could work (Josh Smith).

Only problem is Rondo is pretty much an offensive zero especially when you consider teams starting point guards have at least be an average 3 point shooter (which let's be honest Rondo is nowhere near) or be an aggressive scorer (which Rondo isn't again either. He's coming up on 30 and hasn't showed anything to make a team, want to actively pursue him (even though this is the NBA and he'll just get signed off name alone).
