    Re: 2015 Offseason Thread

I don't think it's about whether they can afford it or not, it's about whether he's worth it and he's just not a max player. He only specialises in offensive rebounding, you can go out and get a lot of 6'10/6'11 guys who do that and won't ask for the max. He has no post game, isn't big enough to be a good shot blocker and doesn't get steals. When we have an elite stretch four on the roster who when healthy will play the majority of minutes and will get more boards than TT will, I don't see where his max worth is. Let's not forget that he only played in those Finals because Love was hurt. Even Love on a down year gave us much more offensively than TT gave us in those playoffs.

And come on, Rodman? The guy was 6'7 on a good day putting up rebounding numbers Chamberlain wouldn't be unhappy with. DeAndre Jordan also averages a double double and is a great shot blocker.

Now I'm all on board for TT to prove people wrong this year and go out and become a 10 and 15 kinda guy. I believe in him more than most people but he's not a max guy, he's not a starter for most teams either.

The thing is, he doesn't grab a "crazy" amount of boards. For a guy who plays as many minutes as he was he just barely above average, below if you factor in that he was spending lots of time at center. If he were Drummond level, Deandre level then giving him that type of money would make sense.

I think his defense is being overrated as well. He's not a great post defender, he doesn't protect the rim, his strength really lies in that he can switch and hedge on to just about anyone. Which is a great strength to have, but even the leagues most elite all around defenders don't get paid the kind of money he's asking.

He's still a perfect fit for Cleveland, and I don't blame him for trying to get paid.. But **** he's at a very very steep price tag.

So now I'm seeing the Melo to Chicago rumors again... Idk why he would agree to a trade to Chicago when he could have signed there to begin with. Doesn't he have a no trade clause?

Regardless, would any of the Chicago guys here be fine with a trade for Melo for similar pieces rumored in the Gay trade?

McDermott can ball man. Maybe with Thibs gone this bench will get a little burn and athletic wings won't be too big of a necessity.

Where you hearing that from? Healthy Melo could probably still be good, but at this point I wouldn't want any part of him. He's a year older now and far too much would have to be given up to get him with that massive deal of his. The rumored pieces of the Gay trade were Dougie and Taj for Gay. That's not getting it done for Melo. I'd much rather make the Gay deal than any Melo deal.

So what's the latest possibilities of a NBA team moving to Seattle? Who would it be? Sorry for the dumb Q, but I'm not all up to date on NBA stuff and the season is right around the corner so I thought I'd ask.

I doubt if any NBA team is moving at this time.

                  Maybe expansion down the road?

MLB I think is most ready to expand of any of the 4 major leagues. But NBA I'd rank 2nd(ahead of NFL). Which is still so ironic to me considering that NHL(which I'd rank last) is expanding soon, and NFL seems 2nd most likely.

Of all teams in the league,Pistons and 76ers are only ones who've been consistently struggling with attendance past few years, and that's only cause Pistons have sucked past 6 years, and 76ers have had just 1 season above .500 in past 10 years(and even then,it was a shortened season).

I think expansion for NBA would be great thing, cause then it'd allow them to really change things up. No more east/west conferences. NFL style divisions(except NBA has proper alignment within divisions).

Who knows, maybe we'll see a league one day just abandon conferences. Just make it 1 conference,4-6 divisions, best 15 or 16 make it. Doubt that idea happens in near future, but one day I can just see that being a major evolution in the sports world, cause the 2 conference stuff was created so long ago, times have changed.

I don't see any sport, especially the NBA or NFL, abandoning Conferences ever.

I can't even think of the reasons why they would or why it makes sense to.

Perry Jones waived by Boston. I wonder where he ends up.

Still think he's a starter in this league, right now. Would love to see Golden State pick him up. He couldn't be a better fit with his ability to play defense.

It only becomes a reality if planes can get from Miami to Portland in one hour.

                          And even then, not happening.

RIP Flip Saunders. This 1 hits a little harder since my dad just had a cancerous tumor removed last week.

My prayers are with your family and friends Flip.
