    Re: 2015 Offseason Thread

While everybody distracted by yet another Feganism, people almost forgot this is such a crucial year for OKC to make the right moves for KD, he could be gone after this season.

Well if he's eating $35-40 million of a cap at age 36, it could be a situation like Kobe now, where he's a shell of the player he once was, putting up points but having to chuck 30 shots to do it and hampering the team.

He might find he wins more rings at the tail end of his career if he takes a cap-friendly deal, like Duncan, so that the team can keep some good young players.

That's assuming the Cavs draft a player like Kawhi.

Kobe has had repeated career threatening injuries though. He may be old but he's worse because of the injuries. No guarantee lebron won't be hit by them either but it really depends on that for him to drop to Kobe's level.

Well even without serious injuries, will he be running the court at age 35 the same way he is now?

Plus in the playoffs, he shot well below his career averages both in FG% and 3P%.

          What if the trend continues?

Come on OKC, don't sign Kanter. Show KD you won't do all that you can to build a winner around him. You cheap mother****ers.

Well it's not so much about Cleveland -- though after LBJ leaves, maybe the franchise reverts to an afterthought.

More about LBJ's legacy. He does have very ambitious career goals.

Gilbert is going along with his demands for maximal spending to win titles but for how long?

                    Doesn't matter. From last year:

The free agent's decision not only affects the teams, but also the communities. James’ economic impact as a Cavalier was estimated to be $50 million to $80 million a year, says WKYC, an NBC-affiliated television station in Cleveland. When he left for Miami, Cleveland was estimated to lose $48 million from James' absence, according to the Plain Dealer. Why? James was an attraction for the Northeast Ohio region. Without him, there were fewer people attending the Cavaliers' games, and that meant fewer people paying for parking, food, hotel, and travel, let alone tickets and team merchandise. For Miami, it isn't clear what will happen to the city's economy upon James' exit, but Forbes has reported that the Heat would lose $100 million if James does not come back.
LeBron James announced Friday that he will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play basketball next season. LeBron James' decision has huge financial implications for Cleveland, Miami, and beyond.

I'd maybe agree if he wasn't from there as well. But LeBron is Cleveland. What else matters? Indians are irrelevant, Browns suck. If he ever wears another uniform, I will be shocked. And after Dan Gilbert posted that letter after The Decision, I'd want to make him bankrupt if I was LeBron, so I highly doubt he'll be taking anymore discounts.

I guess that only matters to who is sitting up getting off on his legacy. Makes me none. I like him as a player but I dont care that much.

I don't doubt the economic impact for the area, though his impact to the bottom line of the team itself isn't that clear.

Well you figure the Cavs will raise ticket prices after the season they had. Are they in a new stadium with luxury boxes? They need to maximize revenues with the payroll they're taking on.

Either way, he's going to leave the game very rich, just a question of how many rings.

Man, 4/70$ for Kanter is crazy. I know Okc wants to keep him, but damn, that's a lot for him.

                              Gerald Green to the Heat.

                              I like it.

And now there's also rumors that Stoudemire could sign too.

Health will always be #1 factor on how far we go but I'm really excited about our DEEP roster this upcoming season.

                              PG: Dragic, Chalmers, Napier, Johnson
                              SG: Wade, Green,
                              SF: Deng, Winslow, Ennis
                              PF: Bosh, McRoberts, Haslem
                              C: Whiteside, Andersen, Stoudemire(?)

I suspect either Chalmers or Birdman will be traded as we still have a few other guys left out from the above (Zoran Dragic, Josh Richardson, Henry Walker)

If they do they'll have to trade a couple guys
