Also, if the Cavs are bringing guys back, I wonder if Alonzo Gee would play for the vet min or remaining MLE. I think he would be an okay backup.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
No, but at this point I do think its necessary if they plan on doing any more trading. Most teams dont have 2 superstars to build around and he came into that and screwed it up.
I honestly don't know what the heck he's doing.Comment

Yea I know Steve closed it...but didn't you reconsider opening it recently (like in the last month or so) when we were bitching about him in the off topic thread during the finals.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Both JR and Jamal are absolute lawn chairs on defense. Not sure you'd really want to spend that much money on either guy, although there are worse options and with the situation the Cavs have put themselves in Cap wise, they really don't have a choice.
Would make more sense to just retain Smith than to waste Haywood's expiring on a guy that you already have on your team.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Agreed. I would rather have JR. Better catch and shoot player and better defender. I think the Cavs should go after a backup SF with the Haywood contract. Doesn't even have to be that good of a player, just someone capable of playing 15 minutes per night.

They have to move Haywood by August 1st though before his deal becomes guaranteed though. So if they can find somebody to bite on taking him, I think they pretty much have to do it.

JR is a better on ball defender than Crawford. He actually did a decent job of staying on his man this year. His problem is he might be the worst off ball defender in the league. He's just clueless and completely unaware of everything on the court. But he at least is serviceable when his man has the ball.
I can't imagine Crawford to just all the sudden stop playing half way decent just because they met a good team, like JR in the finals. Both players are wildly inconsistent, but I would be much more inclined to bet on Crawford to not shrink in the big moments than JR. I feel like he just died under pressure.
Completely agree with you though, why waste that contract when you have Mo Williams already, and could have JR as well.. Doesn't make sense, at least to me anyways.
