Didn't Adidas just re-sign him to a very lucrative endorsement deal a few years ago? He should be the last guy mentioning free-agency and trying to get paid. Maybe stay healthy and play an entire (or most of) 82 game season first, Derrick.

He makes it sound like this next contract will be his last. Bulls should offer him like 2 years, lol. Sounds like that's about how much longer he wants to play.

With his injury history, I can't be mad at him for thinking like that.

Nah, he's still on his first Adidas contract lol.

But yeah, I get where he's coming from with his injury history, but man you gotta be smart enough to keep your mouth shut on that one. Dude has two years left on this contract here and he hasn't played a full season since before he signed the thing. You gotta know how that's going to go over and just keep quiet about money. He really needs to get with some kind of PR coach or something cause he's a good dude who gives the vultures like TK way too much ammo to spit at him with some of these comments.

I wonder how much he feels he's actually worth though? He's going to have to get back to that "MVP" form for him to be worth the type of money he's likely thinking he's worth.

But I definitely don't blame him, teams throwing money around like crazy right now, why not be thinking about it the way he is?

It's the same with how people felt about LeBron earlier in his career. His intentions I don't feel are bad or unwarranted. He just needs to find a much better way to say the stuff he says lol.

True. And it took LeBron winning titles to actually get a lot of people off his back for past stupidity. Rose sure as hell won't be winning one any time soon. If he just puts together a full solid season it'll be a step in the right direction.

But I would still take him over Melo ...

I need to see how they both look next year for me to make that decision.

The biggest difference is NY basically had to offer Melo because they had nothing else. Chicago isn't in that position, they have players to build around.

The problem is they need Rose to stay. He's a "hometown" guy who's basically been a feel good story every since he hit the league. Him wanting too much money might put them in a tricky spot though. If they lock up him, Butler, Noah, even with the cap jumping that might hurt them depending on how much Rose wants. And you have to worry about how Jimmy would feel if they overpay Rose while he's the teams best player, he could leave. And if Jimmy does leave you have to question how much players would be willing to run to Chicago knowing that Rose is their "guy" and he's aging and never healthy.

Idk Rose probably should have just kept his mouth shut, though I don't disagree with anything he actually said. I could see it rubbing some of the guys on his team wrong since he's been flakey for multiple years now.

No, he did sign a huge contract extension with Adidas in 2012. The deal was worth $185 million for 13 years. He's making plenty of money outside of his NBA contract, so his worrying about "getting paid" becomes even more worrisome, IMHO.

Here is a link that mentions the deal after one of his knee injuries:

As Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose limped off the court on Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers, Adidas was feeling the pain too. The sports-apparel company has pledged $185 million to Rose over 13 years in an ambitious effort to attack Nike head-on in the $3.7 billion basketball-shoe market.

If he gets hurt again and it's a career ending type of injury, does Adidas still pay him or would they find a way to get out the deal since he's no longer "marketable"?

Oh, that's the deal I'm talking about. You made it sound like he'd signed a new deal since that one. That contract back in 2012 was like his first big time shoe deal. 2012 is a long time ago man haha.

I don't think they can get out of it, but I'm not sure. He signed on to that deal before he got hurt originally around the same time he signed his Bulls contract.

Yeah that would be really dirty if they could some how get out of it.

Just randomly heard on the radio that the Cavs lose Iman Shumpert to a wrist injury for 3 months.
