    2015 Offseason Thread

    5 years ago... Tyson isn't the same player anymore.

    DJ didn't show up against the defending champs this year in the playoffs? Or does that not count?

    Per 36 he averaged 14 and 14 with nearly 3 blocks. Not 14 rebound playing next to a crappy rebounder either, but 14 rebound playing next to a dude who was grabbing 13 boards a game himself..

    DJ has been fine in the playoffs for the past couple years now.

    Tyson isn't the player he was then. And even then that's the only great defensive year he's had. What did he do in NY defensively, what did he do this year defensively? It's no surprise his ONE overrated year came playing beside Kidd, Marion, who were determined to win a ring and two of the best at their positions defensively, and a younger Dirk. He's never shown to be a great defender on his own, DJ has.

    I guess we'll see.

      SG: Matthews/????
      SF: Parsons/Jefferson/Anderson
      PF: Dirk/Powell
      C: Jordan/???

      Not a lineup that gives me a lot of confidence in terms of this year, but having two of our best players at the age of 26 is a nice change of pace. Should be interesting to see what Mark and Donnie can do with the rest of this roster. Not really sure why everyone across the internet seems to have the need to remind everyone that this roster isn't going to go straight to the Finals, the Mavs and Mavs fans are well aware of that. Its just great to actually land a free agent that we really wanted instead of having to pick up the pieces and leftovers from other teams every year.
      Congrats to you Mavs fans...boy do I miss that feeling lol.

        Chandler had a higher defensive RPM than Jordan did this year. I understand wanting to go the youth movement but acting like right now Jordan is far superior to Tyson Chandler is just not true.

              All that means is that the Mavs played better defensively with Chandler on the floor than off, more so than the Clippers with Jordan on or off.

              Not an equal comparison because they don't have the same teammates. But yeah a defensive line up of Rondo, Ellis, Parsons, Drik is pretty damn bad. It's easy to see why their defense took a bigger jump with him on the court than the Clippers squad with DJ on the court.

                No it just means you're overrating Jordan's defense.

                He had his first great year of blocking shots after listening to Doc but again until this stuff nets some meaningful wins you are overrating him.

                  @YoungNBA
                  Last season, DeAndre received 563 passes from CP3, and was 114/142 from the field when Paul gave him the ball (80.3%).

                  Wants a new team ...

                  @espn_macmahon
                  Mavs convinced DeAndre Jordan he was an underutilized gem. They painted a picture -- with stats, X's and O's, etc. -- of Dallas potential.

                  @espn_macmahon
                  Mark Cuban on DeAndre Jordan: "We think he is going to be our best player for years to come. A franchise player for rest of his career."

                  They basically just told him what he wants to hear and then when Dirk retires what?

                      De Andre's gonna be busy playing alongside Dirk, that's for sure.

                        No... we already know hes going to outperform Tyson on both sides of the ball

                          No it means what I said it means, that's the definition of the stat my man.

                          It hasn't netted quality wins? So what exactly have the Clippers been doing the past two years then? What has Tyson been doing the past two years?

                          Even if we wanted to call their defense as wash, DJ is still top 5 in blocks, gives up less baskets at the rim than Tyson(while playing more minutes) , gives up a lower opponent FG% at the rim that Tyson, leads the league in rebounds, rebound %, rebound chances, contested rebounds, FG%, EFG%, he's played 82 games the past 3 years now and is still getting better.

                          It's not his "first" good year of blocking shots either, he actually blocked more last year than this year.

                            OJ I dont care about your stats.

                            The point is Tyson Chandler's defense has netted someone a championship and DeAndre's hasn't

                            When he learns not to get owned by guys like Marc Gasol and Draymond Green consistently then we can have a conversation.

                            Stop trying to use numbers to convince me this guy is some kind of monumental upgrade defensively when he couldn't stop Tim Duncan from pulliing the same move on him over and again.
