It's a one-year minimum deal for Villanueva, who won a lot of admirers in Dallas in his first season as a Mav

More on the irrelvant he said/she said but the Knicks are sticking to their story that they did not offer Monroe the max.

        From Alan Hahn today...

Another reality that has yet to be presented involves Greg Monroe, who, for months, was linked to the Knicks as a free agent target. The Knicks reportedly met with Monroe on the first night of free agency, but contrary to reports based on what Monroe’s agent, David Falk, said, the Knicks never made a full max offer to Monroe. In fact, I’ve heard from a few people that the Knicks never made any offer to Monroe. The max, apparently, was assumed by Falk.

Besides the Clippers shouldn't trade Crawford for Haywood's contract. They should trade him for Pierce's back up or a decent big.

They need to sign JaVale first of all, and trade Crawford/JJ, or both. Tony Wroten and Jason Thompson from Philly, Wilson Chandler and JJ Hickson from Denver, Jordan Hill and Wes Johnson from LAL, Norris Cole and Tyreke Evans, they need something along those lines.

If they even have that kind of cap room, idk what their situation is.

Totally forgot about this part of it. I guess the question is, what is Smith looking for per year? I mean the Cavs are already going to be well into the luxury tax this year with or without shedding Haywood's contract. I understand the desire to get something in return for a valuable expiring but at this point, with the cap set to balloon in 2016, does it really matter from the Cavs perspective? That 5 million they would save this year means literally nothing.

The concern here for them should be redundancy. You're potentially going to have 3 guys on your bench that do the exact same thing which is shoot and play no defense. I'd say resign Smith, wait it out and try to swing something better before August 1st.

Javale needs a new agent. First he sits out remainder of last year instead of signing 2 year deal. Now he isnt signed yet with anyone? I know its still early but still....this sounds like the kendry morales stuff from a year or two ago in mlb

They've been named to talk to most of those guys but they dont have any cap room with just the few guys they have. It takes a special guy to screw up this bad

Amare was another but they killed guys contracts with stretch provisions

David Lee, huh? Don't mind that one at all.

Unloaded Gerald Wallace useless *** in the process. Seemed like a good vet to have around though.

Yep just saw from a GSW fan that he is a great locker room guy and can still play. Much nicer for the Celtics to use cap on a guy that can still play instead of Gerald Wallace's old ***.

Down with that, gives us another stretch 4 to play when Dirk rests and gives us some shooting off the bench. I may be crazy but I think in short (maybe 3-4 minutes tops) stretches a lineup of Parsons/Matthews/Villanueva/Dirk/Jordan could be very interesting.
