That's a unique situation though, they all planned that and took the maxium amount that they could while still getting all 3 of them on the same team. It's a little different asking a guy to take less money with no guarantee of how that's going to help the team.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
DWade and Duncan are their own men. If they choose to take a paycut, alright by me. What angers me is when the media and fans acts as if a player wanting to get paid their worth makes them a bad teammate or greedy. They're not greedy, they're getting what they deserve before they're kick to the curb by the organization that's looking for the next super athletic 25 year oldAm I trolling? Am I serious? Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Do we really think FOs aren't savvy enough to let the player know what they're going to do with the paycut money? Duncan takes a paycut, they sign Lamarcus Aldridge and David West. Dragic leaves money on the table, we resign Wade. Dirk takes a paycut, Mavs get Chandler Parsons and almost get He Who Will Not be Named. I have a hard time believing the FO doesn't lay out a plan for after the paycut.
Then there's the guys who take pay cuts knowing they're going into a winning situation to chase a ring. A lot of these guys turn down lots of money to go to a better situation. If money were the motivator why did Ray Allen take $7m a year less to play with us? That's just one of the many examples
What I can't support is taking a paycut because owners are cheap. F thatFan of:

Bottom line is you shouldn't be telling people to take paycuts unless you go into your boss on Monday and cut your check to help the company.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I assume most of these players are smart enough to know not to take the FO at their word.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
But they didn't, that's the point. Dirk leaves money on the table, and now he's on a team going nowhere. Way different situation than Lebron, Wade, and Bosh teaming up, or Ray Allen taking a paycut to join the best team in the NBA.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Why are we even having this discussion though? I think we all agree that there's nothing wrong with a guy getting every dime they can, correct? I don't have a problem with it, the only issue I take is when a guy takes every dime he can and then starts bitching about the talent around him and forcing the front office into making stupid decisions to try to meet some sort of deadline to appease what that guy wants.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Taking a paycut is the least logical thing for a person to do. I don't care if you're making 20,000,000 or 20,000 money is money at the end of the day. We're taught since little to aim to bring home the big bucks. That's what some guys just aim for. LeBron is probably looking at getting according to speculation a 200 million dollar contract once the cap jumps happen. I don't blame him, good for him.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I get what you're trying to say and to an extent, you're right. However the reason they can't GET paid and win at the same time is because of the salary cap. In order for the FO to "create that flexibility" somebody has to sacrifice somewhere or the player is going to have to show some patience.#RespectTheCultureComment
