I would hope with that type of money Thompson starts at least half of the time. Or averages 30+ minutes a game

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
After refusing to accept DeAndre Jordan's apology, Mavs owner Mark Cuban said the free-agent moratorium period that enabled Jordan to change his mind wasn't to blame.
"I pick my nose at the table. I don't give a f--- about etiquette," Cuban said. "It's not about etiquette. Look, guys, s--- happens, right? This is business. This is the real world. You move on. There's lots of guys that haven't played for the Mavericks that are in the NBA."Asked if he had any proposals for the NBA Competition Committee, which will meet Monday in Las Vegas to discuss any rule changes to the game, Cuban suggested the league should put a fourth referee on the floor.
"I think guys will have to just play basketball," Cuban said. "There will be a lot less fooling of refs, a lot less flopping. The game will be smoother, a lot less movement, less wear and tear on refs' [bodies] ... I think there's a lot of upside to it."Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
D-League isn't supposed to outshine the NBA! D-League is basketball, NBA is sports entertainment lol. Accomplishments outside NBA mean NOTHING!
Seriously though, NBA does need to improve D-League alot. Make it much more important and improve quality alot as well.
MLB has their minor league system going real well for so long. Not exactly a minor league system, but CFL is second to the NFL in terms of football leagues, and it's real popular(at least in Canada obviously).
AHL is minor league system for NHL and it has strong interest and huge impact for NHL. That's what D-League needs to be for NBA. A league where they could test out potential rule changes in NBA, where we could see players called up from D-League throughout season and actually making an impact on main roster.
It's the minor leagues. They are cool but the reality is no one really cares. We only care about the players coming out of it.

D-League will never be fully relevant until each team has a 1:1 relationship with the teams in the NBA and operates as a full-fledged minor league system. I hope someday in the near future this happens and it finally gets used as a true developmental system like baseball.XBL & PSN: zasbury25Comment

I don't know. I want the NBDL to get some rep but if anyone here can name the last five champions in the AHL, MiLB and CFL, I'd be incredibly impressed.

CFL is an actual league where fans care about the whole thing. People don't watch it to see which player might one day make the NFL. I don't watch CFL,but the average fan for sure could tell you the past champs.
Does
look like people don't care?Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Arn Tellem wrote a good article on Grantland a few months back about improving the D-League.
I wish that the league would sink some of this newfound money into it. The salary range is from $13k-$25.5k which is pretty pathetic. IMO, the quality of the D-League should be superior to the Chinese leagues and Euroleagues. Makes you wonder how many guys slip through the cracks because being a manager at McDonalds is a better gig than being a domestic, aspiring NBA player.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Are you seriously making an argument of people caring about minor league sports Majingir man? Nobody cares in the grand scheme of things. The only reason people go to that **** is because what the hell else are they gonna do in Rockford? Or Scranton, Pennsylvania? That and the fact that people still have this notion of "Amerca's Pasttime" with baseball and guys taking their kids to a game is still this romanticized experience for some people.
Comparing the crowd sizes is off base too. Baseball stadiums and the AHL arenas are much bigger than the rec center gyms they play D-League games in. That's like putting down the ECW crowd size compared to WWE when one is performing in a bingo hall and the other is in the Staples Center.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Most of the fans were high school kids needing something to do after school and during the boring summer nights. Tickets were like $2. They would go there, watch some innings, walk around the concourse and pay attention when something major happened like the cute player is up to hit or the guy their grandparents hosted was on the mound.
Everyone else was old. The rare exception was the truly hardcore which amounted to the people paying $8 to sit behind home plate with their season tickets. You could count them just by walking past. In fact, that was one of my hundred tasks during game day.
