Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Man, I know the series fizzled out at the end, but games 1-4 was honestly some of the best basketball I've seen. It had a little bit of everything.
As for the Bulls...well, they just aren't a very modern team. When they'd run Mirotic out there, they were a little better, but still they lacked a lot. They don't have that energy guy who is out there to get boards and do the dirty work. Closest thing they have is Gibson, and I don't think he's that energy dude.
Rose and Butler should stay and they should totally rethink their 3-5, especially Noah. He looks beyond done. Gasol is aging, Gibson isn't that good, Dunleavy is okay but not a starter on a deep playoff team. And their bench was totally overrated, although I don't know if Snell was actually good or not because he never played.
Thibs...man, idk, dude got thoroughly out coached by David Blatt in this series. And while I love Blatt and think he'll make an excellent head coach, he's still a new guy at this level and is learning the NBA ropes. The biggest thing I saw was that Blatt made one defensive change, and after that, the Bulls were toast on offense. Switch on the pick and pop with Gasol, and the Bulls had no counter.
I think he's done, and should be. I think the Bulls, as an organization, need a fairly comprehensive makeover. A team with Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler should be a defensive power house and pushing the ball with pace, not sitting in half court and playing very average defense.
As for my Cavs...well, Shump has officially arrived in the playoffs and it couldn't come at a better time. He had been okay for most of the playoffs and regular season, but this series, he provided that defensive stopper role. JR Smith is still shooting like crazy, Delly continues to look impressive and like the smart, energy guy he should be.
With some rest for Kyrie's aching knee, and for a taxed LeBron, I'd be worried if I were ATL/WASH. Cavs are going to be sitting at home resting, waiting. I would love it if the Wiz managed to win the series, giving the Cavs home court, but honestly don't think it matters much to the Cavaliers.
The impressive thing this post season for the team is that they have remade their identity. With Love, they were an offensive powerhouse that could not be stopped. LeIso was going to be incredible with the Big 3 on the court, and Love was proving exactly why he was brought in during the playoffs.
Now, they have switched to a more Heat-like model. With a guy like Shump, Tristan and Mozgov to go with LeBron, plus decent defensive players like JR and Delly coming off the bench, they've been able to play that pressing style while being able to protect the paint. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but this team defense they are playing right now...it's pretty damn good.
I'm just proud of how this team has handled adversity in the playoffs. Kevin Love goes down, Derrick Rose rips their heart out, Kyrie is getting banged up, JR Smith suspended...and they just keep rolling. Their mental toughness right now is off the charts.Too Old To Game Club

I was really kind of rooting for the Bulls for a while...up until I remember all the **** that Bulls fans talk and how much I hate this franchise.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
I just can't read the forums when people sound so salty/bitter over referee. When even as players that's part of the game. It's mentally fatigue me to read. ESPECIALLY DURING THE GAME. Now if you want to bring it up after the game with video. (Like King B Mack does) Referee are the one thing that is set in stone. Can't be changed once the call is made. It's super subjective (especially fouls) They will never take that out the refs hands. So deal with it. Or watch golf.Last edited by jeebs9; 05-15-2015, 06:17 AM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

The Cavs got Smith and Shump for a current day 8th grader.
That's not a good trade. At all. But par for the course with Phil Jackson.Too Old To Game Club
