re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
From the article King posted.
According to a person who saw the text messages, Curry told Durant in a text message that he could care less about who is the face of the franchise, who gets the most recognition or who sells the most shoes (Curry is with Under Armor, Durant with Nike). The two-time NBA MVP also told Durant that if Durant won the MVP award again he would be in the front row of the press conference clapping for him. In closing, Curry’s message to Durant was that all he truly cared about was winning championships and he’d like to do that as his teammate."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
The same people preaching that "competition" stuff are the same ones calling these players "stat padding losers" when they can't get over the hump at all in their career, especially nowadays.
These arguments get sillier and sillier everytime I read them.
"His so called growth as a man"? Are you serious with that mess right now? Fans feel themselves a little too much when it comes to professional athletes, lol.
Durants statement (and he worded it evolution as a man).
This has been by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life. I understood cognitively that I was facing a crossroads in my evolution as a player and as a man, and that it came with exceptionally difficult choices. What I didn’t truly understand, however, was the range of emotions I would feel during this process.
The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.
I’m from Washington, D.C. originally, but Oklahoma City truly raised me. It taught me so much about family as well as what it means to be a man. There are no words to express what the organization and the community mean to me, and what they will represent in my life and in my heart forever. The memories and friendships are something that go far beyond the game. Those invaluable relationships are what made this deliberation so challenging.
It really pains me to know that I will disappoint so many people with this choice, but I believe I am doing what I feel is the right thing at this point in my life and my playing career.
I will miss Oklahoma City, and the role I have had in building this remarkable team. I will forever cherish the relationships within the organization — the friends and teammates that I went to war with on the court for nine years, and all the fans and people of the community. They have always had my back unconditionally, and I cannot be more grateful for what they have meant to my family and to me.

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Im trying to figure out how my guy Sam Hinkie (didn't give a **** about the dude 6 months ago, now I love him) got fired in the name of entertainment, but every time I ask why the NBA has max contracts I get answers like so there's more money for everyone else...so? Am i entertained by Delly making 10 mil a year? Honestly i might be but thats beside the point. We pay to see LeBron, he should be getting 50% of the cap. If the Lakers had offered KD a 10 year 500 mil cotract, does he still go to GS? And you could even keep the cap. "You can't tie that much of your cap into one player." You can in the sport where one player can change your whole team.
The Greek Freak and Parker will get their due soon. Greek Freak, Parker and Middleton should get the majority of the cap in the near future.Comment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
People acting like him leaving after being there for damn near a decade is some huge offense. You all need to get over yourselves. He's a grown *** men like you all who at one point decided enough is enough.
Also man Harrison Barnes better pull a James Harden and put up big numbers (and hopefully play Defense)
Just really shocked is all. I thought Durant was different in that regard. I thought wrong. Now Playing on PS5:

That's all PR Speak, so don't take it literally.
It's not like he can say what he really feels like he's tired of playing with Westbrook, Golden State is stacked and it would be easier to win championships with "Super Friends on steroids" or California has hotter women/better night life, so he has to say stuff like that instead. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Wade's earned the right to take a hard stance imo....not like he hasn't taken a few payouts...I mean he'd have the right even if he didn't but still...Comment

And holding us up for $$$? He does deserve more from us because we are the only ones that will pay it. Bucks? Nuggets? LMFAO he was never going to either team. He wants to stay in Miami....naturally.
His contract with the Heat is moments away. Wade is Miami Sports Royalty and this is simple negotiation tactics. Nothing new.
Go Heat!!!!Now Playing on PS5:

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I hope Wade resigns in Miami or somewhere other than Cleveland, because the only way he comes here is either we deal away Shumpert, Frye and don't match Delly to free up cap space, or LBJ takes a paycut for one year.
Saw it mentioned earlier, but TPEs can't be combined with players.Comment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Damn, never thought I'd see people openly root for Wade to go to Cleveland to play with Lebron after they had their Heat run, lol
We still feel the same way about old heads ring chasing and joining championship teams or nah?#RespectTheCultureComment
