That or Vogel turned down the Knicks, which seems unlikely.

At this point I'm not convinced that Blatt would have been a better hire but nearly everything I know about Hornacek's coaching career, I've learned in the last 24 hours. He annoyed the hell out of me as a player though lol.

Seems like he adjusts to his players and he should maximize Taps in a modern way, not like Rambis demanding he posts up x-amount of times and shoot less threes.

I doubt he wanted personnel control. As he just signed with Orlando and didn't get any. According to the article I just read.

To have your coach suddenly quit on you and then snag arguably the best coach remaining on the market all within a week is pretty remarkable. The Magic moving this quick reminds me of the Donovan/SVG situation all over again. Great hire!

Good hire. Just get used to stubborn and egg timer like rotations. That's my only big complaint with him. Other than that he will do good things.

I wouldn't mind us bringing back Dwight and seeing what Vogel could do with him. I mean, he turned Hibbert into a legit big man....

For like half a season before he eroded into complete feces on Vogel's watch. So that's kinda a double edged sword on that one lol

Why do teams continue to hire these re trend coaches? We're in 2016 and Pringles is getting serious looks.

Nets F Thomas Robinson to opt out the final season of his 2 year deal and become a FA this offseason.

The NBA is made for coaches like D'antoni to be honest. If they get Lionel Hollins for his assistant, it would help alot. A good defensive coach and one who doesn't take nonsense from players.

Not saying that's hollins but that's the kind of guy MDA needs to help him

Man I'm still waiting for an answer on WTF happened with that team. Still pisses me off thinking about it lol. It wasn't just Hibbert but he in particular was ****ing pathetic. Quite literally a complete and total waste of space and minutes in many games down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Lionelol Hollins doesn't need to be hired by anybody, not even as an assistant. That ***hole is still stuck in the past with his coaching style.

This is the same dude that thought bringing Brook Lopez off the bench and starting Mason Plumlee over him was a good idea.

That doesn't sound like someone stuck in the past would do.

Hibbert's post moves and shot were formed at Georgetown. His back to the basket game is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Dwight. His athleticism is LIGHT YEARS behind Dwight though. Mentally, they may be battling for title of worse.

Light years is pretty strong here. Roy has decent enough touch to hit those little jumpers but his back to the basket game was pretty much just a baby hook with either hand because he wasn't un-awkward (not a real word) enough to do much else..

Not saying Dwight had a great back to the basket game, but he could hook with either hand and move you aside with quick drops and spins as well.

But we haven't saw that since back surgery other than the one series they decided to post him against Portland in the playoffs. So who knows if that is still with him or not.

Hibbert's fundamentals are actually pretty good around the basket. Howard has always looked like a fish out of water doing anything but dunking. I actually think light years is pretty spot on. It doesn't mean Hibbert's better fundamentals translated into a much better offensive weapon... knowing what you're doing and executing aren't always the same thing.

But the thought that Dwight can be coached into the level of comfort, footwork and fundamentals Hibbert has is as unlikely of Hibbert being coached into the athletic freak that Dwight is. They both are who they are. At this point you coach around their skills... or (what I would do) don't bother with either one.
