He had no discernible leap between year 1 and 2. Big red flag. Especially when you consider he had Towns around the 2nd year.

I like Wiggins and still am a fan but with the way he's talked about he's so overrated right now.

No big leap, but a top 20 scorer at 21 years old. He didn't really need a big leap for this to not be such a great trade for them IMO. He jumped about 5ish ppg per 36, that's not terrible. About a point less than Jimmy when he won MIP from year 3 to 4.

JR Swish is declining his player option and will become an unrestricted FA. No surprise there.

Right now he's a wing that can't handle, shoot or pass. People are projecting A LOT of improvement on him. I'm just skeptical.

Well yeah, that goes without saying since he was taken #1 overall and it's not like he's Anthony Bennett, lol. I think he'll be fine. I see his worst case scenario as Larry Hughes.

Historically, how many players have gone from objectively bad their first 2 years to 2nd option on a contender (where folks are projecting Wiggins)? Serious question. Injuries aside.

What I'm getting at is, I feel people are still evaluating him as Andrew Wiggins the prospect when, after 2 years, we should start evaluating Andrew Wiggins the player.

Look no further than Jimmy Butler, for one.

I would consider that an outlier. He was a late round pick and Thibs hates rookies. He didn't get off the bench his rookie year and was in and out of the rotation his 2nd year. Wiggins has gotten consistent clock and opportunity.

Are you categorizing Wiggins as a player who is objectively BAD?

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

2nd option on a contender, who's saying that? Not sure about that one.

Objectively though, he's barely 21 years old, he's super athletic, and he did average just under 21 PPG shooting 46% from the field, so at least he's scoring. He's more than capable of being a better rebounder. Honestly, Thibs I think will be a great coach for him. I expect significant improvement on the defensive and rebounding ends from him. Thibs may even see him as his Jimmy Butler.
