He's a big dude that makes sick passes and can't shoot, it's obvious why everyone is comparing them. LeBron averaged 15, 7, 4 on 37% in summer league, he wasn't averaging a LeBron on 55% either.

Re: 2016 Summer League Thread
Not just his midrange lol . He is a much better three point shooter than I thought. He broke the lakers record for threes as a rookie in a season and Averaged the most by a rookie last year in 3pg .
But where is that passing game? Maybe he just didn't have a chance to show it yet.#1 Laker fan

Re: 2016 Summer League Thread
In 2 games for one league.. In the other he averaged 25/9/5 on 52%.. But looks like it's just one game.
Regardless I'm more so looking at LeBron/Hill as rookies compared to where I think Simmons will be. He doesn't have their explosiveness, their finishing abilities, especially LeBron.. Pairing that with a likely even worse shot. I just don't see the comparison being that high.
Lots of tall guys can pass. Right now he looks more like an athletic Kyle Anderson or thicker Shaun Livingston than a LeBron James, even a young LeBron James. I mean he's about to hit 20, LeBron was being brought up as the best athlete in the league at that age.. Simmons isn't even the best athlete in the summer league.. Just on completely different tiers in that regard.

Re: 2016 Summer League Thread
As far as killing it in the summer league, the Spurs have 3 guys dropping 20 a game. If they bring in another successful youth movement I swear they'll have to be the best managed organization of the century lol.
Trey Lyles scoring in bunches, rebounding in bunches, hitting his outside shots, nearly 90% on free throws.. If he pans out, along with Hayward and Hood, Utah's core looks even stronger. He would be a nice stretch 4 to go along Gobert or even small ball rotations with Favors at the 5.
Booker and Russell playing well as expected, which is always nice to see. Maker really taking advantage of his length, arguably the most impressive rookie showing aside from foul troubles.
Andrew Harrison looks like a guy who could get some opportunities with Memphis. Bruce Johnson has been nice for the Clippers. Hield's off ball movement on offense is spectacular, Murray has looked solid offensively as well.

The initial comparison was just vision. People were saying his passes are LeBron-esque. Then someone said they didn't like him, he was more a more athletic Lamar Odom...
Basically, no one was saying he's a LeBron level athlete. Only that he makes LeBron like passes.
Regardless, I saw someone in an article call him "Jumbo J Kidd" and thought that was pretty funny. Hopefully he can just be the first Ben Simmons come October.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2016 Summer League Thread
Well if the comparison starts and ends with passing then I don't disagree with that. Dragged this out for nothing.

Can't believe after having 2 top ten picks my favorite player we drafted is a 5'10" 2nd rounder.

Definitely feels like the kid who didn't get anything good for Christmas watching his friends play with all of their new toys watching the Summer League after a pickless draft.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
