    Re: 1/3 - 1/9 Games Discussion Thread

Text conversation with little brother last night:

"Oh wow, we're winning, did we finally wake up?" Him at halftime

"We may have." Me at halftime

"Maybe not." Me halfway through the 4th

I take back what I said about Giannis being fun to watch, that wasn't very fun at all.

I think it was one of those things to speed up the game. Take away the post game jostling some of the old school bigs liked to do.

It's one of those rules I think Barkley doesn't even know exists. Otherwise he'd understand why the post game can't be as it once was.

Well guys... The ugly 2 minute report has now said that Greek Freak did commit a 5 second violation hahaha

NBA rules Giannis committed a 5-second violation before last night's buzzer-beater in win vs. Knicks (via http://ble.ac/teamstream-) http://teamstre.am/2iJutS6

The ref count is slower than real seconds but it's always been that way. Knicks fans need to get off that non call. It's not why the team lost.

The Knicks lost because the team isn't that good. New Yorkers rarely want to admit that to themselves.
                Guess the NBA disagrees.

Not sure how. I don't see how he was back to the basket, underneath the foul line, for more than 5 seconds.

                    Re: 1/3 - 1/9 Games Discussion Thread

Bah, this appears to be a NY writer on Twitter:

NBA says Giannis "begins his dribble with his back to the basket at 7.8 seconds, at which point the 5-second count starts...(continued)

..and then gathers the ball & begins to turn towards the basket for the shot at 2.2 seconds, thus ending the count." We're talking 0.6 secs

FYI: on that same sequence NBA rules missed defensive 3-second violation on Carmelo and a Joakim Noah foul on Greg Monroe. So...play on.

                    lol

Frank Isola? Knicks/NBA guy at NY Daily News. ESPN's Around The Horn, SiriusXM NBA Radio & SNY.

Edit- After reviewing the film again, I can see Isola's point without wearing the green shades. I concentrated on Melo and Noah, not Giannis.

Edit-Edit- The above about Melo and Noah are also on the official.nba.com document, too.

5 second back to the basket is a **** rule anyway.

I've always hated it. The 3 second rule takes care of any real possible huge advantage on backing down. If a player wants to spend 7 seconds trying to back someone down from 20 feet out into the paint that's okay. With the defensive rules and the way the game is played today it's not something that is going to be a big advantage for a team anyway.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Going to my first Wizards game since moving down here tomorrow night. I'm way more excited than any logical person should be to watch the Wizards play.

If you want people to come to your side in an argument, don't bring attention to the fact that Isola is on that same side. He's a scrub.
