Re: 2017 Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Lol yeah you're right.
I hear you. I just don't think his comments were all that bad and the media's reaction is way overboard. What he said after game 1 about needing the last shot was definitely questionable but not so much this IMO. PG has also publicly said how much he likes having Lance back so I think Lance knows he's appreciated. But who knows. Obviously he should just start giving more basic answers though because here we are talking about it and the media making what he said a story for the second straight game.

I hope the Pacers get it together. Somehow they were still in the game and Myles Turner sucked big time. They need to really bring it on Thursday.Comment

[quote=z Revis;2048797493]I really wish the media would stop stirring things up though. "George calls out teammates after game 2 loss." - ESPN headline. Called them out huh, yeah ok lol.. he literally just said what they need to do after being asked a direct question about Lance and Myles.
I do agree he should try and keep things more in house though. He's always had a tendency to be too honest and go public with stuff. I appreciate it most of the time, better than all the stock answers most athletes give but sometimes he says **** that just makes him look bad.
You knew once he said it, that the media was going to run with it, and make a big deal out of it. It was wrong the way PG acted after CJ missed, and it was even more wrong to go to the media and talk about it. CJ had the better shot, and CJ has hit some big shots in his career, and if he had made it, PG wouldnt have said anything and it would be a non issue. of all the teammates he is going to call out in public, and its the teammate that took it upon himself to say I will play PF last season, when PG was whining about not really liking the idea. I dont blame him just coming off the injury, not wanting to play it, but CJ took a beating doing it last yr, and never said a word about it.
The media has been seemingly trying to stir the pot, on PG leaving when he is a FA, and they are pushing him to the Lakers, I will agree with that, and wish they would shut up, but PG hasnt helped the cause either by what he has said about it.
I dont know if its true, but rumor has it that PG has told people he would like to play for the Lakers. Dont know if thats true, I know he idolized Kobe growing up, but he also has said he was a Clippers fan.
Typically where there is smoke there is fire, so Id say PG has said something of the sort, and the media has ran with it.
I do know he said the trade rumors this yr right at deadline affected him, and he was surprised he wasnt kept in the loop on what was going on. I got a feeling that Bird wanting him to move to PF some last season right after injury, has caused some friction between them. I can guarantee PG running his mouth and bashing his teammates in the media, is a good way to tick Larry off. Bird didnt put up with BS in his playing days, and he wont put up with it now, and PG the next day back tracking on his comments after game 1, was probably because Bird had called him out on it.
I like PG, and think he is a good kid, and obviously a great player, but if he is going to be a leader, on any team, ours or somewhere else, you keep things in the lockeroom, and dont let it get into the media.
Im thinking we might have some locker room problems, Nate was fired in Portland due to the owner feeling like he had lost the team and they werent responding to him, but the Blazers owner is kind of a odd ball, but he did make this comment about Nate and why he fired him. That team had trouble makers on it, namely Raymond Felton.
Coach Vogel was liked by PG and the players, and maybe thats somewhat of the issue, I know Bird felt the players werent responding to Vogel like they use to, and why he did not give him a new contract. Personally I didnt think that was the case. IMO Coach Vogel wasnt a good enough offensive coach, and we didnt have offensive minded assistants either and why our offense stalled at times during Vogel's time as HC. It also didnt help that Vogel was trying to go to small ball because Larry wanted a more up tempo style of play, and the roster wasnt suited to play that way.
Also with the way the CBA is, if PG makes 1 of the 3 All NBA teams, the Pacers can give him roughly 70 million more than any other team can offer with a max contract. If he dont make any of the 3, the Pacers can still add 1 extra guaranteed yr to the contract. I think it dumb that sports writers could actually determine PG future in Indiana, because if he is does make 1 of the 3 all NBA teams, he is more likely to stay put, if he dont, then its highly likely he leaves. PG has said before as long as he feels the Pacers are putting a team on the floor capable of competing for a Championship, he will be here, if not then he said he will be sitting down and talking to management.
So who knows whats going to happen with PG and us, but if I were a betting man, and just the way PG has acted this yr, being more outspoken and not in a good way, Id say he wants to leave. It could just be the frustration of the team not playing up to expectations too, and I dont blame him 1 bit for be frustrated by the teams play. We were a team many thought could compete with the Cavs for the EC, and we ended up barely making the playoffs. Been a very disappointing season for everyone that has anything to do with the Pacers.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Raptors are such an iffy matchup.
Lowry can be iffy and the SF position is rusty.
Probably the one series pegged for potential upset, but I don't think it will be.
Definitely my most anticipated match to watch.Comment

Lowry out here making gun like gestures.
He might be facing a suspension for that since we can't have the Kiddies seeing stuff like that.

Raptors seem to be shooting a lot better and playing a lot harder; getting a **** game out of Giannis, and played the entire 2nd quarter with Teletovic and Hawes out there and only down 3. This doesn't feel like Milwaukee's game but they're hanging around for now at least.
