According to Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post, the Wizards plan to drag this out to next week after matching the offer sheet to Porter.

They got 2 days to match(Basically 9pm tomorrow is the deadline), 2 days to give him a physical and 2 days pass him on his physical. Their plan is to basically tie up our cap space so that it would prevent us from making further moves, even though it wouldn't.

It is definitely something that can be used maliciously but I do think it makes sense. Otherwise what, give teams an hour to get everything done? Things happen fast so you'd obviously not want to get caught with too much space tied up but 2 days for each of those processes doesn't seem excessive.

I will say I have liked what the Nets are doing so far. Bradley going to the Pistons all but guarantees that Detroit willhave to renounce KCP and Brooklyn can just swoop in and take him. Im glad yall got rid of Billy King. At least in the next few years I can expect yall to get better little by little.

Also someone said something about the Suns not making any offers, they have an odd mix of talented players and probably are trying to see what this season can show them player wise as they have a few studs and a few question marks. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they found themself anywhere from 8th-10th in the standings.

Here's the issue I have with the CBA regarding RFA, because ultimately that's where it falls on, not the Wizards(If I'm wrong, please correct me):

Let's say I'm July 1, we throw an offer sheet at Porter, he signs it that day and the Wizards get it. Now, teams have 2 days to match the sheet(it used to be 3 days until teams started fussing about that, which is why they changed it to 2 days)

The way it's set up now, the clock to match wouldn't start until July 6 and because they're a RFA, our cap space would be tied with that player until the whole process is done. So if a team wanted to be petty, they could take 6 days before everything is complete, so really depending on the team/process, they can hold up another team's cap space(team dependent)for a week.

Of course it shouldn't be an overnight process but in the same breath, why should it take up to 6 days to complete it? If that's the case, then they need to consider getting rid of Restricted Free Agency(Never gonna happen)But that's another issue in itself.

And 2 years ago Tristan Thompson got a max contract after averaging 8/8.

Go ahead and match Wizards. Hope Wall signs that contract soon.

This has a horrible Juwan Howard feel to it.

Good thing I'm not a GM because I'd gladly tell Otto to take a hike.

We talk about tiers of players...I don't even consider Otto a mid-tier player.

That's a lot of coin.

He's certainly not worth the offer on the table but slow your role a bit there. He's a great defender at SF (the position that LBJ, Durant, Greek Freak, Hayward, etc play) and among the leaders in 3pt percentage. He is exactly what any contending team looks for in a wing role player, while still young enough to develop into a solid #2 scoring option.

Not trying to oversell but I'd put him squarely in the mid-tier range, with some upside left. That'd all be wasted on the Nets though. And if the Wiz have to pay this stupid contract, could likely be wasted on their team too unless he takes a pretty big jump offensively.

To me that seems extremely petty and should be addressed in the next CBA.

Petty? Did you see the offer??? That's the definition of trolling. The Nets don't care about Porter, that offer is strictly to screw the Wizards.

You seem pretty sure in saying we don't care about Porter, which I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. Don't know if you noticed, but we don't waste money for the sake of wasting money.

Believe Burks is a UFA in 2018, same as Favors... Favors I'd prefer we bring back, depends how healthy and good he looks this year with more of the offensive load on him now.

Burks I really don't see being around. Just can never stay healthy, fell out of the rotation last year when he was healthy
