Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Raptors will waive Hamilton. Guess that's one way to solve the roster space issue. Will pay his remaining salary over the course of.....the magic number, 3 years.
They're now 2.5m under the luxury tax and have an 11m trade exception, so they have some wiggle room for now.Comment

C's signed center Aron Baynes to a 1-yr deal. A ton of roster changes from last season. Looking like 8 or 9 new faces will be on the roster.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Miles defense isn't very good and he routinely hits shots when they don't matter. AB kind of pointed at that with his 3 point shooting in the playoffs. Just seems like every time we needed him to step up and give us a big shot or 2 he was nowhere to be found, but he'd fill it up when we're down 30 lol. Still he has his moments where he gets hot and can give you 20 points. That's good value too with that contract.
Good deal for the Pacers side as well. Flipped a guy we were losing anyway for a 25 year old 3 and D point guard. Now I'm just waiting for the Thad Young domino to fall.

Lebron effect. Celtics got new guys, Raptors so far have 4 guys not returning from last year and at least 2 new guys coming in. And let's not forget the Pacers either.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Regarding the IT discussion, if he has a year like last year I say he deserves the max, but him deserving it versus if it would be smart for Boston to actually pay it are two different things.
I do think that Boston has some leverage in that Hayward can be the #1 option on offense. Also, off the top of my head I can't think of many teams who need a PG that will have room for a max contract.
I agree with D that Boston not paying IT would be a bad look. Especially, since he's been a major part of them turning things around, been in on all of the meetings with FA's, etc. If Boston plays hard ball and another team does give him a max offer, then I would have no problems with him leaving, knowing that it would be his first massive pay day in his career and could be his last. I'm hoping that they can meet in the middle, but first I want to see if he can be as efficient as he was last season.

He alone isn't getting it done....
Happy Big Banger is on a team where he should see plenty of time, but he is coming off of a down season. Hoping he can bounce back and provide that much needed toughness on the Boston frontline.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Teams being stupid and overpaying people doesn't make someone worthy of a max deal. The Knicks just overpaid Tim Hardaway, that doesn't suddenly make IT worth a max. Means somebody else is probably stupid enough to give him one, but doesn't mean he's worth one.

You don't really think Tim Hardaway jr is a fair comparison to a guy that just made an all NBA team do you?Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I think Pack summed it up best... IT not deserving the max has more to do with years than money. An offer that rivals the max's per year dollars for 2 or 3 years would make the most sense. Given his size, age and the severity of his recent injuries, it'd be foolish to expect production anywhere near his current level 5 years from now. And if the young guys develop as expected, they'll want to have money for them around that time too.Comment

He's a great player, but he's never going to be the guy on a championship team

What does this have to do with him being worth the max though? Today's NBA isn't set up where you need to be "the guy" to be worth max money.Comment
