If he's traded, the new team would have his Bird rights and the ability to offer him a 5-year deal, no?

It's only if he signed with another team once he hits free agency that the new team would be able to offer him a max of a 4-year deal.

Yes it is... or it could be "I'd have liked to have seen" as in "I would have liked to have seen"

Every team should have already known this would be the case. He's never explored free agency and is currently asking out of his situation. Of course he's not making any guarantees.

Kyrie Irving requested a trade away from one of the NBA’s best teams and biggest stars (LeBron James).

What type of uncompetitive player does that?

Patrick Beverley – who was traded from the Rockets (who, led by James Harden, won even more games than the Cavaliers last season) to the Clippers – on The Woj Pod:

I asked for it. I asked for a bigger opportunity, a bigger chance to display my skills on a high level. And I was fortunate that the Rockets did really good with me and put me in a situation where I can thrive and be successful. They could have really dumped me anywhere, but they did right, and I respect them a lot for it.

It came a time in James’ career, when he went from sixth man to eventually being MVP,* that he wanted more. I’m not going to compare that to this. But it comes to a point in time, where I don’t want to live and regret saying what I could’ve, should’ve, would’ve done if I had the opportunity to at this age.

Nobody would ever accuse of Beverley being uncompetitive. In fact, he’s known as one of the league’s fiercest competitors.

It’s OK for him – and Irving – to balance that with their personal ambitions.

That can be tricky, as Irving might learn the hard way if Cleveland doesn’t find an acceptable trade offer before the season begins. Beverley was fortunate that Chris Paul wanted to go to Houston, was willing to opt in to facilitate a trade and left a hole at point guard in L.A.

Beverley always played off the ball-dominant Harden in Houston – to great effect. Is Beverley capable of more? It’s a small thing, but him winning the skills challenge in 2015 opened my eyes to the possibility. More power to him for wanting to find out.

Where my man Dre at? Ballmer wising up and announcing that Doc Rivers is losing his front office duties. Out the door is the next step for Glenn if he don't shape it up on that sideline.

Never occurred to me until now, but if Lebron did go to LA next season, would the Lakers become the most hated team in the NBA? Maybe all time? Putting them on early 00s Yankees/current Patriots level of hate.

Lebron leaving Cleveland again, joining the Lakers of all teams(like we need to see them win another championship) which obviously turns him back into the villain, and of course...Lavar Ball will basically be shown 24/7. Look at all the attention he gets now without Lonzo doing anything in the NBA, can you imagine if you had a great Lakers team with Lebron added to that picture...we'd literally never hear the end of Lavar.

                    Seems like a plan.

Nope and hell no to all time.

And before you say "Well what about the Heat", that was a completely different case(and we ALL know the history of how it went down and what was said afterwards so we don't need to rehash that discussion again). So unless, Lebron(I doubt THIS Lebron would do it again)and the Lakers pull a similar stunt like that, then no.

And no I don't think he'd go back to being a "villian" either, I'm not even going to be worried about that or even care about that...too old for that, lol.

May give him a reprieve, since they lost CP3, maybe the expectation is no longer be a top 4 seed.

Some of the rumored offerings, like the Heat and Minnesota trades, help Cleveland more right now than that Phoenix package.

I'm not sure why Cleveland would want Bender, he's not likely to even crack their active roster rotation. And they just signed Rose. Obviously Rose is an injury risk and is basically washed up at this point, but if he can get anything close to that 18 or so a game from last season is Bledsoe a better enough option to ship off a player like Kyrie? IMO not even remotely close.

If Jackson or Booker really are off limits (Jackson is now signed and just now eligible to be traded) then Cleveland should at least be asking for a package of Chandler, Chriss, Warren, Len.. maybe two of those guys rather than Bender. Phoenix might say no, considering Kyrie might not stay with the team, but like I said before Cleveland has no reason to take the Bender trade with options available that make them better both right now and for the future.

Getting back Wiggins and scraps or Dragic and Winslow/Whiteside or whatever the true trade is makes them better both now and going forward. Winslow and Wiggins are proven prospects with potential. Bender hasn't proved to be proven though there is still potential.

Considering the Cavs trade history, they'll likely trade Kyrie straight across for Bender though.
