Kyrie was playing on another planet just to keep the Cavs in the GSWs series. I don't think IT scares opposing players as much despite his stats.

I'm not sold on the Nets 1st rounder because what you expect come the lottery rarely happens. The Nets are still probably the worst team in the league but there's too much uncertainty around where the pick will land as of today.

On paper this is a lateral move for Cleveland. There are only 3 ways this trade really has a chance of making them better.

1.) If LeBron leaves they have a first round pick. Also a couple All Stars to build around, and the ability to ditch IT's contract and Love's the next season or via trade. They should be able to move forward.

2.) This trade sets up other trades. Crowder gives them flexible to run small with he and LeBron making a Love trade a possibility. They could move the pick to bring in another big name. Shump might have a shot to be moved for something more useful to the team. Etc.

3.) Thomas ends up being a better fit. Time will only tell in this case, but if IT is better at reading the high pick and roll situations and making life easier for Bron and Love this likely ends up a better fit for them offensively. Kyrie is incredible, maybe the best 1 on 1 guy in the league. But you always play percentages with him. If he's hot you're going to win, if not you probably won't. He doesn't aid any of the other players on most nights. If IT is a better fit and hypothetically (probably not Pack) that pick turns into a Porter/Bagley and LeBron stays.. they're set up for a couple more years of contending.

(I like IT, but there is no comparable value in an almost 30 year old point guard and an under 25 one with more years of success. One is near his decline. The other is still developing)

I think the negativity from the Boston side must be forgetting how young Kyrie is. He's only going to get better. He's the best active prospect in the league outside of Anthony Davis and maybe KAT.

There is no rookie or college player who is going entice Lebron into wanting to stay. That argument I can't buy just based on past history.

Even the Lakers couldn't make that work with Kobe and Shaq an infinitely better duo. Doing this sets them up for life after LeBron if he bails and smooths them right into a rebuild. If he leaves, you can let IT walk and clear both Bron and Thomas off your books and have a potential top 3 pick in what's supposed to be another really good draft class.

If Bron stays and IT still wants the max, you can let him walk, clear the cap space and still have a potential top 3 pick in a really good draft class to either draft to pair with LeBron (who at that point will obviously be enticed by that prospect) or have the pick to dangle on draft night or sooner for a guy that LeBron will want to have there. It's really a win/win for the Cavs.
True. Getting something for a guy who doesn't want to be there is always a plus rather than losing him for nothing.

But who thinks LeBron wants to stick around playing with some rookie when he didn't even want to play with Wiggins?

LeBron wants as much veteran/established "help" as possible. He's always been that way.

He's not sticking through a rebuild.

Ainge isn't going to say it out loud of course, but being able to wriggle out of paying Thomas a nine-figure deal had to be a major consideration in this trade.

Nahh definitely not. He's got to already want to stay, but one of those guys could be a great addition if he does. I think Bagley will contribute immediately.

Soooo the guy who broke this trade said this sets path for LeBron to head to the Nets... Blake Griffin also just said he's doubts LeBron ends up in LA but rather New York..

I'm not one for the conspiracy stuff.. but that sounds an awful lot like Chris Paul headed to the Nets with LeBron and then Melo swapping New York squads. Wade might end up there as well. They'll make a great run for the 2010 championship lol.

Resigning IT and LeBron staying I'm sure it'll be absolute ****. One more year of Love, TT, Smith, Korver, Crowder, and maybe Shump. But after that year they've got all the money in the world lol.

Can Cleveland flip that pick this year or do they have to wait until next year..?

Good call.. I'm not sure how that works.

Nets about to run a line up of CP3, DLo, LeBron, Melo, Jarrett Allen. You heard it here first lol.
