Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
They haven't exactly been keeping this injury on the down low. We thought up until a month ago he might need surgery and Danny has openly said he might not be ready to start the season. This is why the cavs are getting an asset worth way more than IT in the deal.Comment

I heard a report around that time that Isaiah's hip was progressing great which was the reason he never had surgery.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Noel on a damn steal. If I'm Cleveland Dallas is the team I'm pushing a trade to.
Noel, Barnes, pick, Smith Jr, Yogi, Curry.. any 3 of those would help them while keeping them young for the future.

Unless they're getting Kyrie back, I'm not picking up the phone with a Cleveland area code if I'm Dallas.#RespectTheCultureComment

"The hip is great," Thomas told the*Heraldon Saturday during his annual basketball clinic at BU, where he was hosting more than 400 campers. "It's going well. Rehabbing it, but it's going well. It's a real slow rehab process, but it's getting better and that's what it's all about."Comment

Spoiler
Hard to go off IT's word though. What else is a player going into a contract year going to say? It's just an unfortunate situation for Thomas. He's coming off his best season ever and entering a contract year but has an injury that probably needs surgery. If he gets the surgery he likely misses the year and loses out on a big contract. If he doesn't have the surgery he has to tough it out and hope he can still perform well without worsening the injury. Kind of a lose lose for him.Comment

What surprises me most is that CLE didn't seem too concerned either based on the deal being deemed official.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Gotcha. Which to me is odd that the hip injury and physical has been down played up to this point. When various outlets and analysts reviewed the trade there seemed to be little to no concern about IT failing the physical. I feel like most people made it seem like the Cavs were getting a prime, healthy Thomas which is why the majority felt that the Cavs easily won the deal.
What surprises me most is that CLE didn't seem too concerned either based on the deal being deemed official.
I can only remember it happening a couple of times..
I remember HOU vetoed DETs trade of Sean Elliott because of his kidney issues...then he was shipped to SA and went on to help us win a chip...Comment

I guess that's the thing, we dont know what they discovered....players get traded with ailments all the time...but you probably never expect its to the point they cant pass a physical

I just think with something like a hip injury teams should always be cautious. That can be a career altering type of injury, especially for a player like Thomas who is smaller and takes a beating.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I was definitely surprised when it was reported earlier in FA that he didn't need/want to get surgery and was going to let it heal on its own.
THESE type of hip injuries aren't ones you just put off and hope it heals on its own, especially when you're approaching 30.
