Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Paul George's camp adamantly telling teams trading for him he's still signing with the Lakers in 2018
“Teams are trying to decide what’s the appropriate cost for a player who they’re being told, pretty adamantly by Paul George’s camp, will be a rental."
"No matter who you are, no matter who has checked in or who potentially will check in, they’re gonna be told that Paul George is gonna play the season out and then he’s gonna go to the Lakers, that that’s his plan.”Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
This is something I hate about NBA. Guys just so deadset on going to a specific team, they just throw away the real best option for their career. Don't see that as often in other sports. Egos and attitude just so bad at time.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
If he's determined to go back home, he'll end there one way or another.
And for some players, that's all it ever is. I'm surprised his reps haven't put word out(at least publicly thru leaks)that he doesn't want the Lakers to give up anything and that he wants the team they already have to remain in tact when he gets there.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Something is up in Chicago, not sure what though. The team has already talked to Jimmy and Dwyane Wade about the future of the team and the direction they plan to go and have expressed that they're building around Jimmy. Dwyane Wade STILL hasn't made a decision on his option. You gotta think if he's been told they're blowing things up he'd have opted out by now. If it's about getting that 23.5 million for him, then he could have opted in by now as well and gotten his money. He's got until the 27th to make a decision, why continue to wait to make the decision?Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
From here until about the 2nd week of July is legit my favorite time of the sports calendar. To hell with watching games. Ever since The Decision this 3-4 week stretch is drama heaven. Esp with work already slowing down a bit for the summer (for me at least), all the drama and rumors are a god send.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Better than basically writing off a season because you don't care about anything but going to play for a specific team. Regardless if he said it about the Lakers or Cavs. Just basically being like "I don't care who you are, I'm playing for ___ next year", seems wrong.
If he hits FA and has several bidders all offering same price and then he chooses the best fit to go to of all those bidders, then it'd be fine. That's how it is for most part in NHL and NFL. MLB is most of the time highest bidder since there's no cap. But NBA, guys seem to know the exact team they're going to like a year or so before even hitting free agency to the point where they're checked out the season beforehand.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Wasn't Paul George throwing his Indy teammates under the bus during these playoffs?
So as long as he gets to LAL, he'll be fine with whoever is around him?
By 2018, the Lakers should have a nice young nucleus of developing players. I guess they'll get shipped out to make room for another big FA signing.
Melo is my only recent comp to this situation and that clearly didn't work out. I get what he wants but he's running to GSW's division, won't be able to beat up/stat pad against weak Eastern Conference teams, Kawhi, etc.
Man..good luck.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
He's just intentionally trying to **** us or something. None of this makes sense. Why announce you're not coming back and then tell teams you're also not resigning with anyone no matter who he's traded to therefore pretty much tanking his trade value down to a bag of corn chips.
What does he expect here... for us to just roll out the red carpet for a year and give him a Kobe farewell tour before he bounces to LA while we get nothing back. **** outta here man. This whole situation is a joke and it's pretty ****ty of him to do this on the way out.
