Re: Artest on the Today show this morning.

I have a problem with everyone assuming that Isiah will jump to get Artest. He saw Artest close up for a few years...so maybe he realizes from first-hand experience how crazy he is and would want to stay away from him. On the other hand, Isiah grew up poor in Chicago and never felt like he was given a fair chance, so maybe he identifies with Artest and would want to help him. I feel Isiah getting Artest would be better for Artest than when the Knicks got Spree. That was just a basketball move to get better. Here, Isiah would also be reaching out to a former player.

As far as the Knicks...Knicks fans (me being one) would love him just like Spree...because ON the court he gives it all he has. He leaves it all out there, and you have to respect that. It's impossible to respect his craziness, but hey, everyone has their faults. I'm not saying I WANT the Knicks to get him...but if we can move Tim "I play less D than Van Horn and have less offensive game but nobody really notices because I'm invisible on the court" Thomas for him...party at my house. All Knicks fans invited.

He just very inarticalited, sorry for the typo, but some people like Ron have a hard time saying what they really feel, and yes, it's cause he inarticatied, but besides the point, what does this have to do with Ron Artest as a person and in this case. Martha Stewart is a inarticated does that make her less of a criminal then. HOLLA

My question is why wasnt it before. I live in LA and Staples has always been 'beefed up" as you say. Why didnt they do that when people threw things at Artest before?

The Pacer coach is to blame for not stepping in and controlling his players, he should have huddled them up right after Artest walked away and defused the situation. You can't blame Artest for acing on instincts b/c that's what they are instincts. Idiots like you who think players owe you something b/c you go to their games, buy their jerseys or shoes are ridiculous...a man is a man, Artest doesn't need basketball..he has enough money, he's in it for the ring (or should be). He's not crying, so why are you. Tell 'Larry Legend' to suit up again, if you can't cheer your little team on anymore, oh well, must suck to be you.

The Pacers have already shown how bad they are w/o Artest, and here you are claiming that by voiding his contract and getting NOTHING in return that it makes a lot of sense....hopefully they do let him go b/c if I was a NBA GM, I would scoop him up in a heartbeat, and have someone on staff that can be a calming mentor or 'father figure' for him...that's all he wants.

Argh, people like you are why America is going down the tubes.

Lack of responsibility is not something that is cool. Artest is responsible for every single action he takes on and off the court. No one else is. Period.

And if you think Ron Artest can survive right now retiring I think you should review some of the histories of players who have stopped their career short, especially players who have mental problems. It usually doesn't work out. He could always go to a hip hop career though, because that always works out for basketball players.

Re: Artest on the Today show this morning.

Artest has been prescribed medicine for his emotional problems. I'm assuming he has the same thing my friend Sal had, a chemical imbalance. I know it's alot "cooler" for the suburbanite know-nothings to attribute his problems to hip-hop culture, but he said in an interview from a couple years ago that he never liked taking pills and such, so he threw them away. Most of those types of medications have a profound "blunting" affect on ones personality, so its a double-edged sword.

My man Sal seemed so docile while he was doped up...man, it has to suck to need stuff like that.

On another note, I gave Big Ben props for reaching out to Artest, but evidently, Wallace says the reports were false, and that he doesn't owe anyone an apology. I guess attacking another player because of a borderline flagrant foul, then pursuing the guy for a whole minute, inciting both teams and the crowd, is acceptable behavior in his book. Real classy, Ben.

ben has nothing to apologize for. he overreacted, but he didn't cause artest to do what he did and the crowd to go crazy.
