Well if you make Howard out as a teenage phenom then the criteria you use for Lebron as being "special" because of his age and lack of college experience doesn't make him so "special" after all. If they're coming out of the woodwork every year then what's the big deal about Lebron? Sounds plausible and you're thinking "Holy ****, Yosemite's right." I do my best thinking at night.

No offense, but could you please explain how Howard averaging 10 boards as a PF, outweighs LeBron coming in and playing the PG (a more complex, demanding position), putting up 20/6/6? Coming in and taking over as team leader and focal point? Do you really beleive that keeping up a pace of, what, 9 points and 1.5 assist is just as impressive? Riiiiiight.

    Heres McCoys conspiracy theory...

Every dominant player gets a ton of press...which in turn builds a small segment of folks who base their opinions on the fact that they are sick and tired of the percieved hype. This misguided group of disgruntled highlight show viewers will always exist, these dudes have been saying the same thing since the kid was still in HS. "He's only doing it against HS players".."uhhh...he can only dunk" etc... Their arguments are running out, but hey, he hasn't gotten a triple-double yet, so he must be over-hyped right?

Howard is a great young talent, no doubt, and I definately think Orlando made the right choice...but why are people COMPELLED to downplay another player to make a point? LeBron had one of the greatest rookie seasons in the history of the NBA.. Don't confuse Howards great start on the glass as the same level of acheivement...its not even close.

Ah well, welcome to the "LeBron-aint-all-that" club. Theres always room for one more...

^ yeah dats true but at the same time there are people who are getting tooo exicted about Lebron.... and saying all kinds of dumb stuff...

          FACTS:
Lebron is 19 he is already a top 10 player in the leauge (maybe top 5) by season's end....he is very good now

but i don't think he would get much better skill wise, just more consistant (ala Duncan, KG, Shaq, Kobe).... because he already does alot and this is a team game so how much more can he do...see were i'm going.

Dwight has been a great player so far and if he keeps it up he could be the next Garnett type player who came from high school. I will have to watch more of him cause I am hearing some good things.

                  Re: Dwight Howard-where's the love?

He's not getting pub because he doesn't make as many highlights as other guys. He stays in the paint all night, grabbing double digit boards, blocking a couple of shots and getting a few baskets. Just basic PF stuff, he's not a standout right now, as oppossed to LeBron who was among the top PGs last year stat wise, there are a handful of PF's who are doing better than Howard. Yes he's 18, but LB raised the bar for high schooler, it's not enough to come right in and be a good player, you have to stand out against the veterns at your position to really stand out.

If Howard keeps up these stats and keeps improving this year, he will start getting attention. He's just quietly going about his business helping the Magic win games, that's fine by me.

And I think Okafor deserves the ROY right now, just been more impressive. You can make the case that he's on a worse team so he's a bigger part of their offense, but he also had higher expectations than Howard in his first year. He's played really solid and should be a good building block for the Bobcats for years.

Ahhh here we go again you need to read my post my good friend. Where did I say anywhere that Lebron ain't all that? I simply stated that at Howard's position thus far he has been just as impressive as James was his rookie season but you hear nothing about it. Lebron's season was impressive but it was hardly earth shattering and Carmelo had similar #'s so that means 2 players has the greatest rookie seasons ever in 1 year. Look at some of today's players like Carter, Iverson, Pearce, all had similar #'s in their rookie years. For a teenager it was quite impressive but Howard's a teenager as well.

To compare the PF position with the PG position is apples and oranges. Look at Garnett. He was front and center right from the get go. Garnett took several years to develop but he got the hype because he was one of the 1st to make the high school jump. You state that Lebron is the focal point of the team last year where Howard is not even an option on offense. How many points do you think Lebron would of had last year if he had Hill and Francis on his team? Ummm... a lot less. If Howard came into the league 10 years ago would he receive more press. Umm yes. You make rebounding sound like some simple task that any idiot can do. Ask Yao Ming about that. The game is not simply about who can score the most amount of points or we would already anoint Iverson as the best player of his era.

When's the last time a high schooler came into the league and averaged 11 boards a game. When this guy really starts to understand the NBA and gets some feeds he could be amazing. Everybody wants to say how important the PG is but PF is just as important. It's not like Lebron averaged 10 assists a game. Do you think the Bulls would have been as successful without Rodman pulling in 15 boards a game or Horace Grant before him. I think not. Can't recall any championship teams that didn't have a monstor grabbing boards.
Chris Bosh has been heralded as a future star but he averaged 11 PTS and 7 boards last year and he went to college. See where i'm coming from.

Am I saying that Howard's better than Lebron? No. It's like comparing a QB with a RB. What Howard's done thus far I find quite amazing when he has to battle with the wide bodies in the paint. He should be getting at least the same amount of hype as Carmelo did. At his position he is mature beyond his years just like Lebron is and the sky's the limit.

Ahh welcome to the "If you say something good about another rookie you're dissing Lebron club" Enrol early as it seems overbooked.

And I'm glad Weisbrod drafted him and not Okafor... I had a feeling Dwight was better, and had more potential...

howard obviously isn't the clear cut ROY honor, you know okafor is doing a good job and is the KEY to their team, he has no francis or hill dishing it to him
                                I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can't
