That's literally not true. Not even remotely true. Budenholzer took over that Hawks team when its best player was Al Horford and no offense to Horford, if he's your best player you might do good but won't go very far. To top it all off he built a system based on Pace and Space for those guys and coached them to a franchise record in wins in his second season all while bringing out the absolute best play career wise for the likes of DeMare Carroll (remember him the guy you guys were calling the "LeBron Stopper" after having two good seasons in Atlanta), Jeff Teague, Paul Milsap. All unsurprisingly the moment he gets to Atlanta Al Horford literally starts shooting threes at a career rate and the same for Paul Millsap (which again you guys bragged during the season how Casey with the help of Nick Nurse really changed things on offense and how DeMar was shooting the most 3s of his career, it only took 7 seasons).
So let's look at the facts. Budenholzer to inferior talent (no offense to Horford and Millsap) and absolutely brought the best out of them. Oh did I mention last season when he lost 4 of his best players in Al Horford, DeMarre Carroll, Kyle Korver, Jeff Teague and yet still managed a winning record with such stellar players as Tim Hardaway Jr., Dwight Howard? It's almost as if he developed a system that he could change depending on the player (because Dwight Howard certainly does not Allow Horford's shooting touch).
Am I saying he is some super infallible coach? Absolutely not, every good-great coach can and will have issues. But to act as if he's Mike Brown or Vinny Del Negro is hilarious. Budenholzer is a good coach, there's a reason the guys here and almost internet wide have respect for him and what he has shown. There's a reason why we joked the Hawks are "San Antonio-lite" when he was the coach
