Blazers GM says Lillard to the Lakers is clickbait.

    Neil Olshey
    On Lillard-to-Lakers trade rumors:

As much as I love LeBron, the NBA isn’t his personal game at Rucker [Park]. So he doesn’t get to pick his teammates. That’s not how it works. Damian’s out there working, Damian is here, Damian has three years left on his contract; this isn’t the world of ‘let’s just send a couple of texts out on a string and see who wants to run with us,’ this is the NBA.

Later calling them “much ado about nothing”:

Clearly there are myths that some of our broadcast partners like to perpetuate because it is click bait and it brings viewers. And at the end of the day, it’s all much ado about nothing.

The Blazers have no incentive to trade Lillard. They finished third in the West last season, albeit in a season they clearly overachieved. But they can still compete and be a playoff team and trading Lillard to the Lakers would just make another WC playoff team stronger. It never made sense.

I thought that was just another Twitter rumor since it originated on there and I paid that no mind at all.

That’s a good get for them, is David West out? I struggle to see how he gets minutes now.

I think Michael Jordan Crawford is still available.

Quick question for anyone who may be more educated on the topic than me:

Isn’t OJ Mayo eligible to play again this season? He was suspended for 2 years and missed the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. Does that make him eligible to play this season?

Not that any team would necessarily be interested in picking him up, but just a thought.

                        Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

So I'm liking the break down on the Zach LaVine contract.

                        1st year: $18,139,535
                        2nd year: $19,046,512
                        3rd year: $19,953,488
                        4th year: $20,860,465

He'll be 26 at the time of that final year which ain't too shaby considering a Jeff Teague is 30 and getting 19 million in the second year of his three year deal next year and George Hill signed on for 20 million in the first year of his deal at 31 years old. He's not even in the top 40 of the highest average salary rankings. Plus the injury insurance should anything happen to his surgically repaired knee. Bulls could have done a LOT worse here and depending on what they decide to do with Nwaba and Noah Vonleh they're still looking a ton of cap space next season once Robin Lopez and a few others are gone. Again, not that that matters much because nobody is signing here next summer anyway.

Damn, I knew even in Boston IT wasn’t gonna get the money he thought he was gonna get but this hurts my feelings... where do you guys think IT ends up?

Part of me thinks he would be solid with Dallas, but I know they’re a little tight on money.

What about New Orleans as well?

Really turned off by his attitude with the Cavs. I’m all about confidence but he really walks and talks the “I’m the best” stuff and I think a lot of teams are hesitant considering the injury he’s coming off of, his size, and the fact that he basically acts like his game is what it is and he’s not changing.

Plenty of teams could use a scorer like him, especially as a 6th man role, but he doesn’t want that role and had made that clear, and unless you’re in a position to let him do his thing he’s not really a great fit in most starting lineups.

I don’t understand what Charlotte is doing. They should just let it go and blow it up. Kemba is about to be a free agent... Trade him while you can because I don’t think signing a 36 year old Parker and trading for Biyombo is going to convince him to stay.
