Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
It's gonna be weird with Melo because he's said he wanted out of OKC because they wanted him to come off the bench/wanted him to basically play as a spot-up PF and he says he needs the ball in his hands creating his own shots more.
I don't know that any of the contenders and pseudo-contenders can really offer him that opportunity, but I guess I'd rank the likely destinations:
1. Houston
2. Lakers
3. Philly
4. Knicks
5. Golden State
6. Random dark horse team like Dallas
I feel like Houston and the Lakers will both want him, but I think Philly might be the best match in terms of what he wants to be doing and what they could use him for. Philly doesn't have much in the way of guys that can create their own shot and for better or worse, Melo can do that.NFL: Bills

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
I wouldn't give up assets for Melo if I was any team. Maybe some 2nd round picks, or right to swap picks 3 years from now, but nothing
substantial. But that move would set the Lakers up with an insane amount of expiring money for next season's free agency. Just not sure how much that helps OKC's situation since Deng is also making a good chunk of money.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Lakers adding a roster full of play-makers and defenders might make it a halfway decent fit if all Melo is asked to do is score. Would be big for the Lakers if he would agree to come off the bench, let him shoulder the scoring load when he comes in and also when LeBron sits.
Watch him go to GS though lol.
Let him go to a team where he can score a bunch of meaningless points, and think he's "back."Last edited by dubcity; 07-06-2018, 12:14 PM.Comment

I don't think Brett Brown will want any part of him in Philly.
In all seriousness though, I still think Melo goes to the highest bidder. If some crazy bottom of the barrel team offers him a three-year deal he's going to take it. If not, whichever team offers him the highest one-year deal will be where he ends up."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Who'd want him? He's a black hole on offense, doesn't play 'D', doesn't make his teammates better, and isn't a leader.....overrated 'superstar'.Comment

One year into the new Nike era, eh? I figured they'd make teams keep their designs for at least a couple years but I guess exceptions are made for LeBron."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
The Knicks should look to acquire him in a salary-shedding move, then immediately waive him.
Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway, and Trey Burke for Melo, Abrines, and Singler and OKC gets the same luxury tax savings while adding three rotation pieces.
Knicks would free up roughly $30m in cap space for next summer.
They'd waive Melo and he could sign with HOU or LAL."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

It also wouldn't surprise me if they sold the "old design" LeBron jerseys for two weeks then left all those poor suckers scrambling to buy the "new design" jersey."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
