Just now waking up and see the reported trade i swear our (hawks gm) has to be the worst GM I’ve ever seen in this city. You are one of 2 teams in the league with cap space and you trade for salary and don’t even pick up a 1st round. To make things worse the 1st rounder everyone has been wanting you to trade goes in the same exact trade. We now would have 3 PGs on the team and one true SF on the whole roster. I’m still half sleep as I just woke up hits boggles my mind how we managed to screw up this offseason with the assets we had going into it.

The report on this trade I just read, said Dennis wants out ASAP.
And that is why they traded for Lin, report said Dennis will be traded in the next couple of days. I guess we will see.

i havent thought for 1 second schroeder would be on atlanta when the season starts after the reports months ago he wanted out..its just a matter of finding a trade with his crap contract. hes probably going to have to settle on being the backup somewhere..maybe even for a trash team

All the idiots, Celtics fans specifically, reveling in IT's recent career trajectory, only make me want even more good fortune to go his way. I think coming off the bench in Denver could help recoup some of the lost potential income he had coming. Should be a good for him.

everyone gets some of the blame when it comes to IT.

he drastically overrates himself, so do the fans, and the c's screwed him with his hip injury. he needs to check his ego though, hes likely a career backup from now on and he needs to accept it or hes gonna turn into a 5'9 melo that nobody wants on their team

Like how the Nets have climbed their way back to stable ground. Put themselves in the position to turn over the entire roster at any time if they choose. Solid job considering where they started from.

                        Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

I don't see how anyone can justify the priority of the hawks being backup PG if Schroder is traded over a 1st round pick.

Its really not complicated take Faried, Arthur and the 1st round pick and go into next summer with your own pick which will be top 5 and then 3 other 1st round picks (cavs, nuggets, mavs) and cap space. Then at some point during the year trade Dedman to a playoff team for a 2nd round pick in a future draft.

I don't agree at all with trading Schroder for a bad contract like Noah or Biyombo if you do atleast pick up a 1st round pick in the process or a shorter contract while not giving up any assets. Dennis isn't a perfect player especially with his off the court stuff he is still 24 years old and averaged about 20 a game. He is one of the best in the NBA at driving and scoring its not like he is useless like Deng.

In the end its not complicated just use your cap space to get 1st round picks.

I don’t think it’s Spencer though but the jury is still out on Russell, especially since he was hurt half of the season.

I’ll have a better answer for you in a year or maybe less than that depending on how either of them are playing.

Curious to see what, if anything, Chicago ends up doing with its cap space. Kinda wonder if they end up with Dennis Schroder at the end of all this. I know there's been some dot-connecting that they could potentially absorb Carmelo while getting a pick or two also.
