I see Kevin as one of the players that regress kind of early and drastically. He will not be the quality player that is worth nearly $30M a year when he is age 32 and beyond.

You could make the argument that right now he is not worth $30M a year; and I definitely don't see him maintaining this level of play long after 30.

This man just said "last FEW years"

what if VC really does play til 45, what does that do to "athletes don't age well" thing, I mean he's one of the best athletes the sport has ever seen.

Is is a locker room thing? Ticket sales? Maybe athletes can decline and still find a spot in the league forever

Pretty much had the same exact response. I've been holding out and waiting to see who he signed with and I'm pretty sure the Atlanta Hawks are in my bottom three choices. Actually not really sure I can think of a worse option for me, personally. I guess I wouldn't have liked him in Houston either.

Maybe he can get himself traded prior to the deadline for old times' sake.

Vince Carter on his 8th team now?! And this is the first time he's back in the East since 2010/2011 season.

Why can't he just sign a vet minimum deal, join a contender, go for a ring, and help out the young guys? Sure, that sounds nothing like Vince Carter, but he just has to accept that one day. Weirdly enough, I recently had a Vince Carter dream. I was gonna mention it and that I had a feeling he was gonna sign soon. In hindsight, I should've said that.

I imagine most of those teams already have vets in place.

Pretty much the opposite of what all the so called experts are saying.

Is he going to lose that 45" vert and become really slow?
Oh wait, he cant jump or run now.
His game is not based on physical tools that he is all the sudden going to lose.
He will be fine for years.

JJ almost signed with Indy per his poscast-

“I had a 5:00 PM deadline... it was 12:30, 1:00 in the afternoon when Philly changed the offer... I had a whole conversation with Nate McMillan. I had a similar mindset to DeMarcus going into free agency... if your incumbent team doesn’t offer, you need to go get an offer. I knew Philly was only going to do one [year]...

I was already going to catch a few Hawks games to see how Trae Young fares. Now I'll get to catch one of my childhood faves live. Even if it's just a few mins... VC along with Kobe, CWebb, Bibby and Tmac are my all time favorite players. After I see VC, Tmac will be the only one I missed live. Should be fun.

He has already regressed and he is not even 30. Look at his numbers on the T'Wolves compared to the past few seasons. He went from being a 25 and 13 guy to 16 and 9. Is part of that due to playing with LeBron? Maybe, but does anyone out there think he is still a 25 and 13 caliber player?

Yeah he is a little slow footed right now and that makes him a liability on defense. How bad will his defense be when he loses even more foot speed?

You say he will be fine for years. We talking worth $30M fine? I'm not sure his on court play is worth that not. I definitely don't think he is worth that at age 32

He was 23 and 12 per 36 this past season as a number 2, and that's with missing a good chunk of games and coming back rusty. He was just under 25 and 13 per 36 before he had his injury. Shooting roughly 45 and 42 which would be on par with career highs.

You naturally lose production going from a number 1 to a number 2 or even 3 with Kyrie, and dropping from 36+ minutes a night to 28-30 minutes.

He definitely won't be worth 30 mil by the last year of the contract, but it'll be the last year of the contract which gives him value as a trade-able expiring, or just letting him come off the books all together for possible max room.

Right, he has had some injuries and his minutes needed to be decreased. That typically doesn't bode well for post age-30 performance.

Not going as far as to say they should not have extended him, but they could've waited, and it would have been better to have the option to cut ties at age 32.

                              Melo-

One of the moments that stood out from the Thunder’s tumultuous season was Anthony laughing when he was asked if he’d ever consider coming off the bench. For some, that was just the latest evidence of Melo’s selfishness.

But Pissed Off Melo has a message for you.

“I know how to play this game of basketball,” he said. “I’ve been playing it for a long time. When I feel like I’m ready to take that role, then I’ll take that role. Only I know when it’s best for me to take that role. I’m not going to do that in a situation where I still know my capabilities and what I can do. And at the end of the day, the people who really matter know my capabilities and what I can still do. You start getting to the media and debates, it’s going to always be kind of back-and-forth.”

The thing with Melo, all right his skills have probably diminished more than he realizes and he is no longer a quality starter, but people losing me with the talk of being a cancer and killing team chemistry.

He didn't stir up trouble in OKC; he did what was asked of him.
