    Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

That question was asked AFTER Lowry basically said he's not answering Raptors questions and he just wants to talk about the USA basketball stuff. So Lowry probably gave attitude back for someone asking a question about a topic Lowry literally says he's not commenting on.

Regardless, the attitude DeRozan has had since being dealt, and even the one Lowry has had for years, just makes you wonder what really goes on off the court. If DeRozan gets so upset about something like this, how did he handle the high pressure situations that are the playoffs, and more specifically, how did he react when things weren't going his way/Raptors lost. All this could explain how/why Raptors were so mentally weak in playoffs.

Breaking news. Kawhi spoke. And apparently couldn't stop talking?!

“I sat down and said, ‘Do you have any questions?’ And he started firing them,” Nurse said. “And it just led us to a really easygoing (conversation). Not what I was expecting. Very smart. Very intelligent. Very engaging. Really enjoyed it … (Management) had to drag us out of there in the end because they had to go do something else. But it was great.”

Surely, as the basketball talk with Leonard went on for some 45 minutes — and Leonard, in Nurse’s words, “lit up like a Christmas tree,” at one point rising to join Nurse diagramming schemes on the whiteboard — Nurse must have been breathing a sigh of relief. The incommunicative enigma who somehow had a falling out with the gold-standard franchise in San Antonio wasn’t some petulant nightmare. Instead, he sounded very much like a typical NBA player concerned about how he’ll fit with his new team, not to mention an elite NBA player deeply hooked on the game’s intricacies.

“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it,” Nurse said. “It was fun to listen to his take. He asked me, ‘How are you going to use me? Where are you going to get me the ball? What do you see?’ And I told him, ‘Listen. To me, you can do pretty much everything. You can post. You can drive. You can handle it up the floor. You can play screen and roll. You can come off pindowns.’ I said, ‘Did I miss anything?’ He’s like, ‘No, that’s about it.’ I said, ‘You’ll probably be doing all that stuff.’ ”

I didn't want to be the one to mention it, but yeah I kinda thought DeRozan was a little too much in his feelings about the trade. Its a business, and based on both accounts it doesn't sound like he was outright told he wasn't getting traded. Sure they didn't let him know gently, but that is true for the majority of trades.

I think Kawhi aint in the best of moods with the media these days with all the trash theyre flinging around.

Seems he's been communicating just fine with the Raptors. Guess it's not enough drama for them to do breaking news tweets on.

As long as the media here is fine, I think he'll be ok. If I'm ujiri, I'm going to MLSE and telling them directly to get their respective networks (tsn/SN) to not bug Kawhi. Media here has been known to annoy guys like crazy in all sports. Pull that stuff on Kawhi and you're out.

He hasn't said anything to them yet... and Lowry doesn't want to answer them lol

Do you have a relationship with Kawhi?
            Lowry: "No."
            Have you spoken to him?
            Lowry: "I don't know."
You don't know if you've spoken to him?
            Lowry: "No."
            What do you mean?
Lowry: "I don't know if I've spoken to him."
When will you speak to him
            Lowry "When it's time"

Something I don't think has been mentioned but I just read about it. OJ Mayo was eligible for reinstatement as of July 1,2018. Anyone think he'll be back in the league? And what team might go after him? Based on everything happening lately, why not the Lakers lol. At least give LeBron one 3 point shooter.

I think Lowry knows as well that he's gone in 2 years max. He's not re-signing, and if Raptors don't go far in the playoffs and/or Kawhi leaves, all the vets are being shipped out.

Irony of Lowry seeing DeRozan going to the Spurs is that Lowry actually wanted to join the Spurs in his free agency. Who knows, maybe we see "Raptors South" form in 2 years in San Antonio lol. Gay,DeRozan,Lowry teaming up there

There was one Knicks fan among the bunch. I won't single anyone out, though. He also once said the Celtics should have used the money to sign Al Horford on Jeff Green instead so yeah...

But the topic of the Celtics trading for Melo started on one of those debate shows I believe. Soon after the thought caught steam with other talking heads, media members, and fans. The idea was Melo could be the difference maker on the worst #1 seed of all-time. As if Melo in the starting lineup instead of Crowder was the answer to beating the Cavs.

People still salty because he left SA. There's people in the media carrying water for the Spurs (ironically), so they're looking to make him look as bad as possible.

It's why I hate the media. They can spin any story(in sports, entertainment, anything) in whatever way they want. In Kawhi situation, they're badmouthing someone who they know won't speak up for himself. That's basically bullying.

How dare DeMar be upset over being traded and showing his feelings. He makes millions of dollars, he’s not allowed to show any emotion!

Ink is barely dry on the deal....with how everything went down my man DeRozan cant get some steam off?

If hes still talking about into the season that's one thing but I cant be mad at him for what hes said so far as long as hes ready and focused on the upcoming season...

Honestly, I don't mind DeMar letting his feelings be known. He still loves Toronto and the fans but obviously he's DONE when it comes to Masai. A lot of it has been through social media but when asked he's not going sugarcoat his feelings.

Now if he's still going on about this into the season then we have an issue.

I can guarantee you this, The Raps and Spurs are going to have one of the Christmas Day game slots for sure now.

I’m sure he won’t bring it up or mention it. The only time is when someone deliberately asks him which is the provoking I hate. Like if he scores 60 against Memphis, somehow someway someone will probably be like, “sticking it to Toronto huh”?

Ugh, I really hope it doesn't turn into a media driven clown show like that.
