Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
The only two teams likely to dethrone Golden State are Philadelphia and Boston.
The Lakers and wherever Jimmy ends up won't be anywhere near that conversation regardless of what he or anyone else believes.
Surprised it didn't work out in Minnesota, but it seems likely Butler is a malcontent similar to Chris Paul.
The Wolves need either a young SG or picks cause taking back a veteran (who will apparently defect) or multiple players isn't what they need.
Also, Thibodeau is the most overrated coach in the NBA by a country mile....

Please, he's almost 30 and has already been dealing with knee issues. Not to mention Thibs need to overplay him throughout his time in Chicago and Minnesota.

I don’t see how there has been any sort of tangible evidence to show that Jimmy has ever been a malcontent.
And if “winning” means dethroning GS 29 teams in the league are losers and it doesn’t matter where he plays so he might as well go where he wants.

He seems to be like Paul in that he demands a lot (maybe too much) from teammates and that annoys some.
Everyone is playing for that number 1 spot, so I doubt many of (if any) care about second place. I've made my thoughts be known plenty of times in the past, so I won't retread old ground.
Boston and Philly have the pieces in place to win championships and eventually dethrone the Warriors. They have 3 or 4 legitimate guys that can become stars/superstars while few other teams are in that position.
Unless any combination of Paul/Harden/LeBron/Kawhi/Westbrook/Butler come together then a championship isn't likely in any if their futures, IMO. Or they ring chase...

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Jimmy hasn’t ever been a trouble maker exactly but he has gotten a little bit of an ego over the years. I can’t really blame him though because he earned it. Jimmy has worked his *** off every single step of the way in his life to get where he is and he truly is an “against all odds” story. I remember having arguments in here a few years ago with some people (probably oj since that’s what we do lol got love for ya bro) about Jimmy when he finally got himself unglued from the bench while Luol was hurt and he was in line to play at the two and guys here were saying he’d never work there and he’d never be more than just the hustle hard defensive guy because analytics. Dude has turned himself into a top 20 player in the league and all he’s ever really wanted was a team to really believe in him and trust in the work he’s put in to build around him.
I don’t think he and Derrick didn’t get along here because of personal issues, but strictly just basketball issues. Jimmy put in the work to make himself the best player on the team in Derrick’s absence and was ready to seize the top spot and Derrick was trying to prove to the rest of the world that the injuries hadn’t finished him and he could still lead the team to where they wanted to go. One of the reasons those Bulls were so successful was because they all got along in the locker room. They didn’t hate each other, they didn’t infight. They just all did their jobs and they had fun together off the court.
Pointing to Chicago and the situation in Minnesota as some pattern of Jimmy being a problem doesn’t really work. Jimmy wants to win, Jimmy wants to win like Thibs wants to win, but I don’t think everybody on the Wolves feels that way and Jimmy is a smart enough dude to see the writing on the wall and how putting together the 2011 Bulls in 2018 isn’t anywhere near the correct path to anything especially if Wiggins and Towns aren’t putting in the effort like they’re being reported to not be doing.

A lot of these current reports paint him as much worse than a troublemaker [emoji38].
Very much enjoying the drama but don't want any part of this dude on my team.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
So if Jimmy makes his way to the Knicks how likely is it Boston might consider trades for Kyrie.. 2-3 years now it's been rumored they would go to the Knicks together. If Boston gets a good offer for him and they can make plans to retain Rozier, Smart, Brown, Tatum, how likely would a trade for him be? I could see the same scenario with the Clipps honestly. It was just recent I believe that reports said Jimmy's decision with his future was going to be largely dependent on Kyrie.
It would be typical quick-fix Knicks move to trade for Jimmy B. Don't do it, Mills.Comment

It is clear that he sees himself as an elite player - I think he is below that tier - that wants to be treated that way and demands a lot. Probably annoys two young, gifted guys like Towns and Wiggins who haven't had to work as hard (they are more "naturally gifted" than Butler).
I think it is unfair to say those two aren't working hard or hard enough. Towns is only heading into his third season and still puts up elite numbers for a center. His defense will hopefully come along at some point soon (remember when both Cousins and Davis were below average/average team defenders[?]).
Wiggins might be just a scorer/slasher and there isn't anything wrong with that. They need to emphasize his strengths and do a better job of masking his weaknesses. Obviously, being a net negative on defense isn't tolerable (he has the physical tools for much better) and he does need to be at least average there.
They need more shooting and floor spacing teammates, but they stupidly let Bjelica walk, and haven't worked to acquire that type of talent. Thibs is more to blame than anyone for the teammates slow progress, IMO.
If they can find some youth, shooting or defensive help in exchange for Butler then do it.
