"I think he’s reaching that point of 100% health.".

That ain't good enough, too much money in the line for a guy that only played 9 games last season.

Would love to see a 3rd/4th medical opinion on Kawhi's injury.

      b) If his injury wasn't that bad, shouldn't teams be worried about the fact he refused to play?

I dunno...you guys are all throwing out these trade ideas like he's a sure fire thing to return to his previous form, but I see red flags. Am I missing something?
I think b is the bigger issue here. That injury isn't one that should continue to hinder him for years to come, although he does have a injury history in general. All the stuff back and forth all year long, even if he was that hurt still and full communicating that's not the vibe we were given from Pop and teammates. Now all this stuff about him meeting with Pop, sitting down with him and Duncan, all this stuff that's been talked about for weeks, if he was really just fine and rehabbing, still under contract, what is the need for any meeting at all? What would they need to meet and talk about?

And now it's come out that he wants to be traded, when he could realistically just go wherever he wants if he just waits a year. He doesn't need a trade for that. So something somewhere is fishy, somewhere there is some sort of tension. You don't just go on for months and just be rehabbing even though you are cleared, your teammates and coaches have little to no knowledge on your situation, Pop of all people refer to it as "ask his people", then need to meet with Pop for whatever reason, and then all the sudden want out when you only have 1 year left.

I think we don't know much about the situation obviously, but I think with everything that happened this year Kawhi now holds a lot of power because of it. Everything may have been fine, he was too hurt, rehabbing, in contact with the team, but we don't know any of that, other teams don't know any of that. They don't know what his reaction could be if traded to a team he doesn't want to be traded to. Could he rehab again all year, even if cleared? Could he let everyone know ahead of time he won't resign with them? I do know if he sat out almost the whole year with the Spurs, Pop needed to meet with him or whatever, and then is asking to be traded, that if he did tell me ahead of time he wouldn't resign I would take his word for it and definitely wouldn't be willing to risk changing his mind at this point.

I mean all year I thought the whole thing, while fun to talk and joke about, was likely just media being media. But now he wants a trade? So I think there should be tons of red flags for the trading partners.

When you find that detailed report that they're leaking to the public instead of piggybacking off of a part of a quote then we can make that determination.

Until then the reason you don't have anything is because he's not out there running his lips. Be patient this offesason.

Even if Kawhi is back to 100%, does it seem like maybe his value has been a bit overstated? I know he's one of the best defenders in the league, and two way players, but really last year is the only year of his career we were acting like he was a top 5 guy, MVP type of guy.

We are looking at a guy who's 16, 6, and 2 on his career, 16, 7, 2 in the playoffs. Are we even sure that's something teams need to throw the whole kitchen sink at? I know his numbers are much better the past couple seasons, and playing for the Spurs doesn't always give players a great stat line. But we also don't know what he would look like playing elsewhere either, and we have to assume he regains last years form not just from a health standpoint but rhythm as well. Sometimes guys never get that peak season back after injuries, trades, or confidence falling, whatever else could disrupt the rhythm they had going for them. These teams willing to throw out big pieces and assets for him, do they even know that he's the type of player who will thrive with the extended volume and ball handling play-making duties?

People just reaching and reaching to rationalize a potential situation where Kawhi stays with the Spurs long term lol. Pop is an *** and it finally backfired on him.

I’m not saying he’s a system player, but we haven’t saw him just thrown in the fire and witnessed him show the ability to carry a team for multiple years in a row.

For a team like Boston, or teaming up with PG or Bron, that wouldn’t be a concern. But if I’m a team trading away my future or my most valuable roster pieces I would be a bit hesitant on doing so for a player that hasn’t really proven to thrive in that situation as of yet.

I’m glad it’s finally out in the open that Kawhi wants out. Hopefully, the Spurs can get some good value for him and he can lose a lot of games in LA.

Are you saying the Kawhi wanting a trade is fake news? We’ve had all day for Kawhi or the Spurs to come out and refute it and it’s not happened yet..

Just thrown in the fire? What does that even mean? And why does it have to be multiple years in a row? He carried the team to a title. That’s not to say that the rest of the squad was garbage or anything, but he put the team on his back and lead them to that title. What more do you need to see from him? We’ve seen what he’s capable of.
