I think the suspect defense is due to them gambling too much and not enough chemistry together. I think they can fix those things but they are also giving up lots of 2nd chance opportunities which isnt so easily fixed as that's a personnel issue. McGee is gonna have to play heavy minutes this season

They lack quality defensive personnel, too.

I know he's preaching patience but we'll see how much LeBron, Rondo have over a season with the antics of Stephenson/McGee and all the inexperienced, young guys.

I know it wasn't financially feasible, but losing Julius Randle for nothing is gonna bite them in the *** (long term).

Defense from the first unit looks like it could potentially be pretty strong.. I think that’s going to be a chemistry thing moving forward, they have a lot of strong defenders IMO. Just all need to be on the same page. Bron-BI-McGee trio was disruptive as hell to start this game.

I’ll be interested to see what the outside shooting looks like 15-20 games in. This game doesn’t feel like a very good indication of their shooting IMO. They are definitely missing a specialist though, unless Svi gets minutes.

They should be better from 3 this year than last year, and the difference in team shooting is massively overstated. Example, GS lead the league last year at 39% on about 11 makes, the Lakers were 2nd to last at 35% and 10 makes. Houston is really the only team taking enough to create any sort of massive separation.. Kuzma, Ingram, KCP, Bron, Hart could all be around 40% once they get their rhythm going.. shouldn’t be a big problem IMO.

Lakers are gonna have to make a trade for a shooter. Both teams have the same amount of field goals made but the Blazers have made 3x the amount of 3's. Trying to run and dunk all game isn't gonna be successful for a full season.

As a type that out they miss 2 more 3's. I have no idea how they thought this team would be successful the way the league has moved to relying on 3's.

Naw. I know this is one game but this is exactly what I expected to see from them. They have a bunch of slashers and playmakers but no one that can consistently knock down 3's. You have to have 1 or 2 of those guys in your rotation. The reason they do have wide open shots is because teams aren't gonna respect them to hit those.

Spot on, it's not like the season is 82 games, so they definitely don't have time to figure it out and should definitely react after the first game of the year against last year's 3 seed.
