Well, obviously yeah but as far as quality depth at the position, its still one less actual big they have.

Was having a solid year too, all things considered.

Luckily this season has been better injury wise (thus far) then the past few years. Hate seeing him go down though, he was becoming a nice player.

Bulls fire Fred Hoiberg.....*giant wet fart*

Means absolutely nothing if GarPax aren’t next. How many damn coaches and players have to go as scapegoats before these two garbage *** bums are shown the door?

              Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread

              Rumors are fun..

So after Davis singing with klutch, and then Vegas posting their odds of him being on the Lakers game 1 next season as the most likely team, and then news that he can't be traded to Boston due to his and Kyrie's contract, there are now rumors that he will be traded to LA this season and possibly as early as Dec 15th.

All speculation based on Chris Sheridan and Brandon Robinson.. Rumors involve Ingram, KCP, Ball I'm sure picks, or a 3 team move with Ball/KCP/someone going to Orlando and Vucevic heading to NO along with Ingram and Ball/whatever else from the Lakers. Said that the Lakers would want back Payton or Clark if Lonzo was moved.

Tim MacMahon also said that Ingram was "brought up" during the Jimmy Butler saga as well. Suggesting the Lakers aren't against using him as a trade piece.

I highly doubt much, if any, of that is true but it wouldn't surprise me at all for Davis to want out if the Pelicans don't look like a playoff team by the deadline. Seems as though they took a step backwards rather than forwards this year. However, you would think they could get a "superstar" in return, unless they would rather have youth.

For the Lakers in particular, I guess you go all in if it means you get a chance at a player like Davis, but they don't really need a big. Unless they plan on using huge line-ups, or letting Kuz play the 6th man role. But a top tier SG would better fill their needs. I also wonder if Davis and Rondo had a good relationship when he was with NO.

Something along the lines of you can't trade for a player who causes you to have two players on your roster under the "Rose rule". I only glanced at it last week when I saw it, but I think one or both would have to be under new deals for them to be able to acquire Davis.

But I'm not sure exactly how true that is or what work-a-rounds there are.

Edit: I think they can get Davis, but not until one of them accepts a new contract which can't happen unless Kyrie opts out and signs a new deal in July. Unless Boston were to trade Kyrie of course. But in waiting that long they might also have to convince Horford to decline his 30 mil player option, and Rozier wouldn't then be trade-able unless he's agreed to a sign and trade to NO. So the chances grow slimmer and Boston would have less to offer.

                    GS didn't need Durant...or Cousins.

We're talking about AD here...the Lakers should try to acquire AD over ANY SG in the league 10/10 times.

Ingram can go, Kuz too, and KCP but Ball needs to stay.

I figure they would do anything they could to keep both Kuz and Ball if any move is made. But if it meant getting AD I'm not sure anyone would be off the table.

It's the Designated Player Rule which teams can offer to a rookie if he qualifies under the Rose Rule.

But teams can have two players max. It was once one so I'm sure whoever said that was just confused.

Oh the irony of Paxson calling out Fred being here 3+ years in response to a question about opportunity to right the ship during this press conference. This nightmare will never end. I might have to start taking fandom applications for a new basketball team.

Right they can have two max players, but not two players who signed under the designated player rule.. well actually I guess you can have two, but you can’t acquire one of them by trading while you already have one under contract. At least that’s what I read. Said it was a random quirk that was in the CBA.. but that might have been incorrect.
