I mean, they literally turned into the Cavs once those Championships stopped coming. They don't have time for all that. And all the boo-hooing about what happens when LeBron leaves like the Lakers will turn into the Cavs or Heat. That's not gonna happen.

Believe it when I see it. Bron was the biggest name they signed in the last 20 years and that was mainly to get a jump start on that post-Basketball life, which isn't wrong BTW.The Lakers will always be in the mix for the top players.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 02-04-2019, 08:03 PM.#RespectTheCulture -
Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
This guy gets it.But this is exactly what they're trying to do. Yeah LeBron, AD and Melo is not leading you guys to a chip anytime soon. But I guarantee you they'd get farther than LeBron, Brandon Ingram and Kuz ever would.
I actually agree with you and prefer a rebuild as opposed to mortgaging the franchise for a temporary run.
But this is LA. They don't have time for all that. And all the boo-hooing about what happens when LeBron leaves like the Lakers will turn into the Cavs or Heat. That's not gonna happen.
If they get AD, best believe Dame rumors start popping up. At some point Westbrook's name will pop up. The Lakers will always be in the mix for the top players.
Bron averaged 34/9/9 and carried scrubs to the Finals last year. Give him scrubs plus AD and he can make something special happen. We're talking the 1A GOAT here.
And again, it's freaking AD we're talking about here. This dude is a top 5 player, best center in the league...he has a freaking 31 PER this year. You gonna let the potential of Ingram, Kuzma, and Lonzo plus a bunch of late round draft picks stop you from getting him?
Get AD, fill the roster out with the buyout market this year and then you re-load in the offseason with your near-max slot to fill out a team led by the #1 and #4-5 best players in the league.
The more I think about it, the more I'm coming to realize it'd be really stupid not to offer everything sans LeBron to get AD. Especially with a good cap situation going into the offseason.Comment

Does Windy have sources in the Bulls Organization, King?
Gotta make sure he does first before we roll with this.#RespectTheCultureComment

And when they lose to the Warriors or earlier because they get exposed for having no roster depth and have thrown away their chances of catching the Warriors at the end of their dynasty run, what then?
That’s my issue here. The warriors are ageing. Curry and KD are both 30, Klay and Draymond are both in their primes but can’t carry a franchise and one of them is about to leave. But LeBron is gonna slow down before any of those guys do and the Lakers are going to be here in four years with no more NBA championships, a decaying roster and you’re looking at teams like the Pelicans, the Kings and the Suns all looking like they could take advantage.
I am 99% sure the Lakers aren’t gonna win anything any time soon. I don’t mind if they do, it’s not gonna be us they beat. But the Warriors are set up to be dominant for as long as LeBron has left at his current level. I think the big picture is this current Lakers crop minus LeBron all entering their prime as the Warriors fall off and that’s being thrown away for a better chance at a very difficult title run.Comment

Why though? What's the point of this trade?

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
So you think they should just waste away LeBron's final years to wait out GS? That makes no sense. GS may breakup but then what if there's another superteam formed? Can't plan your future on those kind of assumptions. If you're the Lakers and you have LeBron James, you compete to win now. You're basically saying Magic should tell Bron "lol sorry GS is just too good, we're gonna wait them out and take our chances with this young core rather than trying to win with the 1A GOAT".And when they lose to the Warriors or earlier because they get exposed for having no roster depth and have thrown away their chances of catching the Warriors at the end of their dynasty run, what then?

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
The thing is at least for like now its going to be AD and James and very little else. If you just want to the offseason and get some star you could have a good 2 all stars/superstars players and not have to lose deapth. If they trade ever one that they have talked about you are going to have to use a lot of money to just get back to like the kind of deapth you have right now and if they take on the bad contract player to than its going to be even harder to replace the guys you are losing or add a 3erd star. If they made the trade with all the guys who are being talked about I think they might not even be better than they are right now because its going to be such a 2 man team. If you where to add another star this offseason and the other hand with out losing the young guys I think they would already be in the championship hunt.Y'all are acting like it's just gonna be LeBron and AD, lol. Maybe that's true this year but they will have a ton of cap room in the offseason that they can fill their roster out with. They're probably gonna swing for the fences for a 3rd star but if not, they have lots of cap room to fill the roster out with depth.
It's pretty crazy though. I thought Lakers looked like a contender Christmas Day. Who knows if they're this aggressive after AD if LeBron never gets hurt?Comment

It only works that way if the Bulls are taking another contract back. Otherwise it’s basically like:
Let’s say Lakers have $112 mil in salaries with KCP. He expires at the end of the year, bringing them down to $100 mil.
If the Lakers swap him for Jabari, it goes up to $120 mil now and then down to $100 mil when they don’t pick the option up. Either way they’re getting to the same amount of cap space unless the Lakers send something else to Chicago.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
This, as well as they have a 4 SG rotation with Ingram, KCP, Hart, Svi..
That said, they could do much better for themselves than Jabari Parker lol.
Sorta. I don’t think it’s a no trade clause, it’s some sort of rule with early bird rights. He basically has to agree to void them which is consent to a trade. Basically the same as a no trade clause without actually having a no trade clause.
The idea is KCP would agree to go to a team that allows him more minutes which means a chance at a bigger contract this off-season.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
I don't get the whole LeBron left Miami with scorched earth thing. Yes we were bad the first year because everybody died/tanked for Justise but the next year we would have make the conference finals against LeBron if Bosh had been healthy. Then the next year Wade chases the bag to Chicago and the LeBron era was officially over. I'd call that a success after losing a top 2 player of all time and replacing him with Loul Deng
