Re: 2/26 - 3/4 Games Discussion Thread
SpoilerSome of the things I read from Lakers fans is laughable. It's sad we all can't get a long but it's clear that there's Lakers fans, who are reasonable for the most part and are glad to have LeBron on the team. Then there's LeBron fans which come in different varieties but obviously want the Lakers to succeed. And then there's "Lakers fans" who are actually just Kobe fans and don't want LeBron on the team and are constantly bringing up Kobe whenever LeBron falters.
Obviously this season did not go as planned. But to put the blame mostly on LeBron is laughable. However, I also won't let him off the hook entirely. He's never experienced a season like this and it really tested his leadership. And for the most part, he has failed to be an effective leader this year through all the turmoil. Hopefully when he's not playing basketball in May, he can reflect on everything that he has done wrong and get better next year because even though he's 34, we never stop growing/maturing as people.
With that said, Magic and Pelinka built this season's roster like complete ***. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they did the best they could considering they missed on PG13 and the rest of the FA class wasn't anything special. This clearly isn't the long-term vision hence all the 1 year deals. On the court, LeBron is still LeBron (on offense anyway). The problem is no one on the team can shoot. Did anyone watch the game last night? They used their spectrum advanced stats at one point saying LeBron had created 13 open looks for his teammates and they only made 2. That's been the theme all year; but LeBron is supposed to be able to carry anyone to the playoffs, so he's getting the blame. It is what it is.
There were lots of concerns about how the squad was built and those fears came to fruition. At the same time, we can't disregard the injuries to everyone but Bron and Zo in particular. It clearly had a negative impact. They looked really good on Christmas day.
I got hope for next year. I hope all the guys that are raising their pitchforks at LeBron right now, who were the same ones celebrating him, a big name finally joining their team, will come back around. But those who honestly think a Ball/Hart/Ingram/Kuzma/Randle/Lopez team would've been better in the long-term are very naive. Their ceiling would've been a second-round exit and that's with them in their primes. LeBron at least gives you a chance at championships and there's hope he will attract another star too.
I think we should all be able to agree that Luke is not the guy to lead this team. He has no offensive sets, plays terrible rotations and doesn't make adjustments. Did anyone notice how the Clips kept going to Harell in the post with Hart or a small guy on him and Luke never adjusted? Why not put McGee in there?
Ah well. I like Lakers fans and got no ill will towards any particular fan on here. I get the resistance to LeBron fans like me but at the end of the day, we all want the same thing: championships. Yeah we got different views on how to get there but we both gotta roll with Magic in charge right now so let's hope he does what he says and brings another star in next year and run it back.Comment

Also I need to **** on Luke one more time after last night. During the game last night they replayed an interview with him during that day either before or after the shootaround. The interviewer straight up asked Luke "do you view this as a must-win game?" And Luke responded with no urgency, nonsensical bull****. He said something a long the lines of "No it's not, our guys need to worry about what's in front of them. So we worry about the shootaround and then after the game tonight whether we win or lose, we move on the next day and focus on that day".
Not what you want to hear from your head coach.Comment

Great double header tonight.
Rockets/Raptors
Celtics/Warriors
Seems like every time the C's have a locker room situation they play a big game and play well...hope that continues tonight...Comment

In their case, playing well and winning are two different things. And they need the latter to start happening more real soon.#RespectTheCultureComment

If they offer that on top of the original offer(If I’m NO, that’s the starting point to resume talks)then NO would be fools to turn that down.
They’d be getting a whole starting 5 just for one player. Of course, LA would be fools to give up that much but the Pels would be no different if they said no.
People only tweak the argument to fit their bias, not necessarily whats best for that organization.Comment

the Jaylen Brown locker room toxic was total clickbait stuff he said the losing was toxic. FYI that was written by the dude just 24 hours prior wanted the Celtics to take a look at Carmelo Anthony.
look as the guy that says things were fine they're not but acting like the thing there on now is the same as when they were winning 10/12 had the 3rd best net rating in NBA and had some bad losses is something.
whispers Hayward is being underutilized.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

I still dont see the guys wanting to strangle eachother, they just havent figured it out, and they do need a couple of vet voices in the locker room.
Kyrie is experiencing growing paings..... not knowing yet how to deal with heavy scrutiny and keeping the distractions away from the team, and thats when vets come in handy.Comment

True but thats still a weird statement to make. All teams lose games.

Yeah I don't either i think it's more about they've struggled to find the rhythm with each other than they don't like each other.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics
