Re: 2/26 - 3/4 Games Discussion Thread
I called out Brad months ago on his inability to manage the egos of the current bunch as compared to the rosters full of castoffs, role players, and rookies from last years.
He remains a stellar x’s and o’s guy. Just needs to learn how to do the other part of the job. Some might even call it the most important part of the job for the NBA coach.Comment

So Luke was asked about that wide open three late in the Griz game that went viral cause LeBron shrugged after. Does anyone else interpret this as Luke defending LeBron/not blaming LeBron and/or indirectly blaming Kuzma?

Depends on the context and how it was said. Reading just quotes will always have people thinking there’s some subliminal shot being thrown.
Anyway, LeVert can’t buy a basket tonight and neither can the rest of the team so far.#RespectTheCultureComment

This AD thing is so stupid. I can't imagine being a teammate. We're trying to win games. And your telling me our best player is not going to play the fourth quarter. What a awkward situation.

Re: 2/26 - 3/4 Games Discussion Thread
Agreed and it's why I think Phil Jackson is the GOAT. I think it was OJ or maybe someone else that tried to argue Phil didn't really manage egos that well because Kobe/Shaq still broke up but they still won 3 titles together and I feel like he successfully managed both MJ and Kobe's egos when they won titles as the top dogs.
Spoiler
Phil had Jordan, who btw was already established before Phil was there. None of his teammates questioned him as the alpha, nobody questioned his leadership, nobody questioned his motives and desire to win. Without Jordan you had Pippen pissed off when things didn't go his way, mad when plays weren't called for him instead of teammates, refusing to check into a playoff game, he requested to be traded, etc.. None of those role players were young guys in situations where they could be trying to play their way into 30mil dollar deals. The environment of what Phil had there, and just the landscape of the league in general at that time is completely different in comparison to Stevens right now.
With the Lakers Shaq and Kobe didn't get along, Kobe requested to be traded with Phil there, they basically broke up a dynasty with Phil at the helm. When they did win again is what with veterans like Gasol, Fisher, Artest coming into the mix. Again with a clear cut alpha who nobody really questioned his leadership or desire to win. Obviously even with Kobe and Shaq not always getting along they won, but nobody even knows if these Celtics can't win as well..
Obviously none of that means he couldn't manage egos, I'm just pointing out that situations were vastly different, and even when you can be considered a GOAT level coach everything isn't just smooth sailing...
Serious question though. Why has this all of a sudden been chalked up to Stevens can't manage egos? Is it really simply just because the team is playing bad? Because I'm not sure how that defaults to ego-blaming automatically. And it's only ONE SEASON that we are using to chalk up this guys entire career as a coach as someone who can't manage egos lmao.. this is a joke..
Could it be that roster construction is an issue? They were at their best when they utilized Horford as a play-maker and the ball was in his hands a bit more. Now add Kyrie who needs the ball, Hayward who needs the ball, Rozier needs the ball, Tatum needs the ball, Brown needs the ball.. None of these players are going to blossom with minimal opportunistic volume, none of the are going to effect games consistently without touching the ball.
There isn't a Klay Thompson who can give you All-Star value and only take 3 dribbles, there isn't a Draymond who can give you All-Star value whether he gets 2 shots or 15 shots. That's what is wrong with this team. IDK why it's chalked up as egos simply because them playing bad basketball has them in a bad mood. A lot of guys on that roster are too young, or never been in the position to even have a big enough ego to matter. Too many mouths to feed from too many players who only function well with touches. They missed their windows to pieces off a couple of these guys for one bigger fish which likely would have cut down on these issues drastically.. I'm not defaulting all, or even majority of that blame on Stevens.. Premature and un-fair.

Cool add in, he's currently 4th in total points assisted on this season. Even when his shooting is coming around his passing might be his most impressive asset. Especially since the guys he's getting this assists to aren't exactly superstars lol.Last edited by ojandpizza; 02-27-2019, 09:53 PM.Comment

Rose with the bad shot to try and win the game so now it’s going to OT. Collins and Young both have over 30.
