At their rate of progression, Lebron could easily surpass KG next year. Most NBA experts that are comparing Lebron are starting to say Lebron IS better than Kobe, guys like Steven A Smith, Greg Anthony, Legler. Even if you want to argue he's not better RIGHT NOW, Kobe was not the same player Lebron IS at 19. It's not a reach at all to suggest Lebron will improve AGAIN this offseason. Once he does, the debate is over. Then Lebron goes from there, starts challenging the greats. People constantly overlook that James is 19. He's getting better every day. I'd say it's safe to say he will have haters, and players that simply like other players better, out of preference, but at the rate of improvement, even if James doesn't improve as much as these other guys, he'll still have years on them to surpass them. It's a joke. Lebron and what he does is irrefutable. KG is just hitting his prime. Kobe and Tmac are arguably in there's, possibly not getting any better. And they don't have Lebron's court awareness, right now, nor James body, think about it, James is 6'9", 240. That's a huge advantage right there. He's got that advantage that Shaq does at center. Put any guard on James, James can overpower them, post them up, and muscle them. Put any 2 or 3 on James that is built, like Maggette, he'll go around them. he simply has the athleticism of both Tmac and Kobe, but a superior size advantage they simply don't. It's a matter of Lebron simply has more gifts to use. If you look at how much better James is that those 2 were at the same age, they just didn't have either the height, in Kobe's case, or the size(body frame, muscle), in Tmac's case. Lebron's height advantage makes passing easier for him than a Kobe, like Magic had that advantage. Also, Lebron can get in scoring position easier than those two, b/c he's so much stronger than other wings, and quicker too. You hear it every night. It all comes so easy for him. He doesn't have to go outside the flow to get it done. That's the clincher right there. YOu also can't muscle James like Tmac and force him to settle for jumpers, if you try and get physical w/James, and use size and strength, he'll turn the tables and post you up. You also can't rake the ball from him, or bump him to get him off balance when he shoots, b/c he outweighs you and is taller, so he doesn't have to force off balance or tough shots. Just look at the shooting % and compare it to Iverson, Pierce, Tmac, Kobe. His shooting % is better in his 2nd year, than any of these guys career high. It's not even close.

Is there any question who the future is?
I'm listening to ESPN guys like Legler, and Greg Anthony, guards that played in the NBA. They are struggling right now w/whether Lebron is as good or better than KG. That says it all. Isn't it amazing that James is already on KG and Duncan's level, and he doesn't have very good players like Tony Parker, Manu(who dominated in the Olympics), Brent Barry, Latrell Sprewell, Sam Cassell, yet he's able to win w/what he's got. When you consider that those two are 28 yrs old, and guys like Tmac are 25, Kobe 26, Iverson 29, it's starting to settle in that Lebron is poised to take the mantle of best player in the NBA in a matter of a year or two. Look at KG, Tmac, Kobe, how they didn't even compare to Lebron at year 2.

Re: Is there any question who the future is?
If I had one player to start a team with it would be Lebron. I would not have said that last year. He is so damn exciting to watch. His rise is on par with Jordan's. Ya ya dont compare. I am not comparing their game but their careers. Both started out on teams thet were bad. Each brought excitment that was undeniable. Cleveland fans should be very excited because if they build around Lebron titles will be coming. He is that good. -

I think Dwayne Wade can seriously be a contender for best player in the league in a few years. He is so complete already, it's amazing to me.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment

Re: Is there any question who the future is?
I don't think Wade and James quite compare. Wade hasn't carried Miami the whole season, in that he has a player like Shaq. Not saying he couldn't, his numbers would be just as good though. But it sounds funny to say this, but I think James is better on the defensive end, not man to man defense, but he is much better on the defensive boards b/c of his size, and also at creating turnovers, his anticipation in the passing lanes is unparalleled. Like I said, I wouldn't say James is a defensive stopper, he has bad awareness in that he tends to lose track of his man, and struggles when teams pick him. But he does so much rebounding the ball at 7 + and with 2.6 steals that is over 2 1/2 extra possessions for Cleveland, thanks to James.
Also, James is a better passer. While the numbers are about the same, James doesn't have Shaq to feed, or Damon Jones, the best 3 pt shooter in the league, spotting up. Furthermore, James doesn't have the ball in his hands every play, Wade has the luxury of playing point at times, whereas James only gets the ball if McInnis gets him the ball. I think James is actually a better passer, he just doesn't have a big fella like Shaq to dish to. Lastly, James size at his position gives him such an advantage over Wade. I know, I know, size don't mean everything. But think about it. James can do a lot of things just as well as Wade already. But James does it in a body that is 6'8 or 6'9"(he's growing), and 245 pounds. Wade is 6'4" and 212. Couple that with the fact James is 19 yrs old, and I got to say it's a safe bet James will be better in the long run.
This is not meant to diss Dwayne, it's merely meant to show how good James will be. I honestly think James will end a top 10 player of all time, wheras Wade will be top 50. I'd have to go with Wade over Kobe right now, Wade is as good to me as Kobe, only he's 22 yrs old. Wade is a much better scorer in terms of efficiency(49 % to 40 %), already an equal passer, and close in rebounding. Kobe is probably not going to live up to what he did with Shaq, as his play and team's success has shown thus far. That's just my opinion.Comment

Re: Is there any question who the future is?
Didn't you already make a thread like this?
To be honest, this is the same kind of spoon fed hype that got me sick of Kobe and Vince. Remember them? They were going to be the G.O.A.T. back in 2001.
Who knows? Lebron is great now, no question. But what if he never gets the talent around him. What if a team in the East suddenly becomes stacked? What if Lebron only improves marginally....hell David Thompson at 19 was better than 90% of the players of the NBA and he really never got better. What if some 14 year old kid in Croatia comes along and is out of this world good? What if's are all we got with Lebron. He hasn't accomplished anything yet. Now if he does go on to win 10 rings, that's terrific....but let's just wait until that happens.
As far as the future, I sincerely hope that the NBA would not market one player opposed to teams. This is what has them in trouble now. If they put everything into Lebron, and Lebron has some major scandal then what happens? The future is the Spurs, T'Wolves, Sonics, Suns, Pacers, Heat, Wizards, Magic, and even the Cavs IMO."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Is there any question who the future is?
I would have to say that LeBron James, in 4 years(crazy he'll be only 23) will be dominating the league and putting up Jordan-esque numbers. He IS that good and it IS a scary thought to think 4or 5 years from now when he STILL likely wont be in his prime.Comment
