Originally posted by King McIntyreYou play for two things:

JJ, was/is not interested in money...he has been paid a boatload of money over his career...at this point in his career, it is all about winning a championship (which is why he signed with Houston in the first place...he should have stayed in Sac-Town (where they wanted him). Jackson has always been a good player, and I agree with his frustration with this trade. You don't sign with a suppossed contender, and accept a trade for a player of lesser talent that played on a doormat team...there was no reason for this trade to include him. Hopefully, Charlotte will void his contract, so the Kings can pick JJ back up.
That tired cliche of 'playing for the love of the game' is bogus and doesn't hold an ounce of weight..JJ is looking out for his best interests and that is all that matters in this case.
2. They aren't going to win a championshipComment

And this is how they 'thank' him.
Houston is notorious for crap like this / treating players poorly. Look at Kevin Willis a few years ago...he signed on the cheap to back up Dream and Sir Charles SOLEY to try and win a ring...
And they traded him as 'cap filler'...a disgraceful 'betrayal'.
I was glad Kev got a ring with the Spurs later...Comment
