I think somebody already said this but man Anthony Davis gave up 4 million for this."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Jazz upgraded tremendously this year. Have been the best defensive team these last few years. Now they've added pieces that'll help them offensively without hurting their defense at all.
Nuggets coming back with their pieces in tow. Building off the 2nd seed in the west.
GS retooled and will get Klay back before the year is up. They'll basically be the warriors pre Durant again if they can get/stay healthy for the playoffs.
Houston will be trotting out the same squad. Same MVP and best scorer in the league James Harden. They just had the best record in the league a year ago. They were one game away from the finals that same year... eliminated by the same team this year. But now that team won't be rolling out there with Durant if they were to meet again.
The Blazers won 53 games last year and added one of the best defensive bigs in the league... unfortunately for them, if they do run into the Clips or Jazz, they're screwed. Lol
Then we have the Lakers who, despite having some depth concerns, will still be rolling out two of the top five players in the league every night. LeBron has done more with less. And the pieces being put around LeBron are actually what you want to have around him. Obviously won't be as dominant as they would have been with Kawhi. But that doesn't drop them out of contention status.
And then we have the clippers who will be rolling out three of the best perimeter defenders in the league. Oh boy...add to that their one on one scoring ability that just raised the floor of the offense. Retaining the 6th man of the year and fellow A+ bench player Harrell who also happens to be one of the best pick n roll bigs in the league.
The western conference playoffs is about to be a straight dog fight. Then whoever comes out the east out of the Bucks, Sixers, and Celtics (sorry Maj, SPTO, lol) should be able to give anyone who comes out of the west problems.
Can't wait for this year to start.
Please basketball God's, we are begging you, please keep all these teams healthy so we can see them at full strength come playoff time!Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Idk.. everyone got paid. That KCP deal looks a lot better than T Ross at 14 mil a year honestly..
I think King and Cima were saying it just before free agency started, everyone is getting paid this year because everyone had money.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I suspected that the Clippers had a trick to pull off, but it still caught me by surprise. I thought surely that to land another star they would have to give up some role players, but no. They managed to add two stars while keeping the core of last years team intact.
I love it.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
That's kind of my point.
The Lakers went all in on this Super Team idea because they are the Lakers and they think it's their birthright.
They never should have gone all in on Kawhi. They should have been satisfied by getting AD and then build a real team around them instead of banking on a lotto ticket.
You can call it revisionist if you'd like, but I think any reasonable team would have made an effort to build a slightly less talented but deeper team. Hell, the Knicks of all people figured it out, why didn't the Lakers?
I agree and disagree.. in almost all cases I’m team build for depth.. but this was Kawhi, and this was also an off-season where everyone got PAID.
I mentioned it before, but with the deals going out this year signing a duo of Rozier and Ross would have taken all of their available money.. in which case having Kawhi and even just a scrappy guy like Caruso starting would have been a substantially better starting line up.
Either way there wasn’t going to be money to get 2 starting level guys and build a bench once these deals started going down and you saw the money guys were getting.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
For good reason.
By many, he was considered a top 3 player before MJ (please AlexBrady, miss this post), then helped mold the Magic Lakers, the Shaq and Kobe years, the Splash Brothers/KD years, and now the current Clippers. Not to mention, a two time gold medalist as a player, a decent head coach, 2x executive of the year for two different teams, and 8x Champion as GM/Executive.
