That play has been in the game forever.

If a guy is running full speed directly behind a ballhandler, looking to make a play on the ball, the offensive player has every right to take advantage of that over aggressive/wreckless defense and draw the foul by pulling up or stopping in front of that defender.

If you don't like that play, then you must not like charges either because they are essentially the same concept lol

I have a problem with the fact that the defender actually hit the brakes and stopped. He didn't run into him. He pulled up short and Dame lept forward on the jumper. That play is not the same as a charge. I will say that one is better than the mess Chris Paul does where he cuts in front of a defender and stops short.

You literally just described a charge.

"Cutting in front" of an offensive player on the move and "stopping short" in front of said ballhandler. It's the essentially the same play on either side. Both result in a foul.

Id have to see that Dame one again because at first glance, it looked legit to me. But you don't like that call anyway, so you were probably looking for it with a more discerning eye than I was. [emoji23]

That's not a charge though man. You have a right to your space on the floor as a defender. That's why blocking fouls exist AND charges. If drawing fouls was that easy then you may as well walk back up the court on defense since a ball handler can just cut into your lane and stop running directly in front of you where you have no where to avoid him. He draws that foul all the time on guys who aren't even trying to guard him, he's gotten centers who definitely aren't trying to guard him they're just getting up the court for defense.

Well we are mostly referring to the much more common scenario where the defender is trailing the ball handler trying to get a steal or block or simply bother the ball handler from behind.

Not the other one you're describing which almost never happens as CP3 is the only one I can think of doing that. Plus he's just as likely to draw some cheap *** fouls on the other end as well. So same same really lol
