i think ths spurs mash the suns or sonics in the playoffs. to me, dallas presents a tougher matchup for them. minnesota would too if they weren't so damn disfunctional.

Re: The Suns are really fun to watch but....
To me, the Spurs are only marginally better than they were in 2003 when we faced them AND gave them the absolute toughest test they received the whole playoffs. The Spurs/Suns series that year was the best series of the whole playoffs, bar none. We only won one game? No, we won 2. As ugly as the bankshot wins were, we still won it. What about us keeping it relatively close the whole series? I seem to recall just missing sending it to game 7 by 2 points. If Stephen Jackson didnt have the series of his life, then we wouldve won the damn thing.
Anyways, my point is, while the Spurs were very strong back then, how much better can they have gotten in 2 years? They still ARE the best. The Suns ran them to six games, had an off year, then now we have the best record in the league.
This IS the best Suns team since the Barkley era, and I think the only thing that can stop us against the Spurs is their defensive style. Not their height, not their strength, only their defensive style. They have the ability to take so many aspects of a team's game and make them moot points, its not even funny.
It'd be tough, but I wouldnt call it a surefire blowout like you guys are saying.Comment

Re: The Suns are really fun to watch but....
It's going to be fun to watch! I think SA is the biggest road block because they are the whole package and have more veteran experience. Suns are still the youngest team in the NBA. I don't really feel that the Suns will make a quick exit, I'll remain optimistic, however I do feel they are undersized and there board work still leaves a lot to be desired. The bench isn't as bad as some suggest, Jacobson is a great spark off the bench and Hunter is coming into his own, he's quickly gaining confidence and has made some key buckets the past few weeks.
The Suns play team ball like last year's Pistons, yes a polar opposite as far as offensive/defensive strategy but they hustle all 48 and play unselfish.
No predictions from me, I just want to enjoy the ride.Comment

Suns vs Grizzles 1st round Would be good, I doubt the suns could win easily.Comment

That'd be a fun series to watch but they have to make the playoffs first. Right now theyre barely out of it.Comment

Re: The Suns are really fun to watch but....
The Spurs are 10x better than what they were in 2002-03.
Ginobili is a total different player. He adds the unpredictability and athleticism that the Spurs have lacked since Sean Elliott's kidney problem.
Although I'm not a fan of him, Nesterovic would be equal to Robinson in 2002. (as much as I hate to say that, geez I miss the Admiral)
Brent Barry alone makes the Spurs a better team. A great shooter and leader and fits in perfectly with the spurs professional mentality. He beats Mercer & Turkoglu (Spurs previous attempts at an outside presence) hands down.
Don't forget Parker (who's improved immensly since 2002-03) and rookie Udrih at the point.
This team is a great team, and I'd expect them to win it all this year.
But as a Spurs fan, one thing that scares me is run & gun, athletic teams. They're the ones that have gotten us in the past so it'll be interesting if we run into Phoenix in the playoffs (hope we don't though!)Comment
