Might be of interest to some - the director of The Last Dance is the same dude who did The Fab Five (one of my all-time favorite 30 for 30's). Jason Hehir.

And I'm pretty sure I heard Eric B. and Rakim at some point too. I think another montage.

As an aside, one of the bigger reasons for the league-wide revenue explosion—if my memory serves correctly—was the acquisition of NBA television rights by NBC. Team salary caps jumped from $13 million in 1989 to tripling that by 1998 ($39 million).

For whatever reason I didn't pay much attention to front office stuff in any sport until college or so, maybe late HS. I just never really cared about front offices back then, just the product on the court. Of course GMs got plenty of media attention but most of it went in one ear and out the other for me.

I mean I understand what it means to have dislike for front office people (see Isaiah Thomas) but that man been dead.

As a fan of an opposing team back then..we had to upmost respect for the Bulls being able to construct such an incredible roster year after year. They knew exactly how to target just the perfect role players for their system.

I felt the same way, I understand why both MJ and Pippen had hard feeling towards Krause, but ultimately Reinsdorf should have overruled Krause on breaking the team up, and Reinsdorf should have stepped in and gave Pippen a better deal. I know that Reinsdorf told Pippen then not to sign that long of a deal, and I get you have a rule you go buy that once a deal is signed you honor it, and do your job, so I see where Reinsdorf was coming from. But you also got to look at where Pippen came from, and why he signed that deal, to make sure he could care for his parents. Because MJ has said himself, he wouldn't have won 6 rings without Pippen by his side. And Im someone who has never liked Pippen, yet I believe he should have been treated better by the Bulls management.

Krause was clearly wrong in getting rid of Jackson, and breaking that team up, and Reinsdorf was wrong in letting him, and not stepping in, and considering he is the owner, and you know that you break up that team, without letting them defend their title, especially when you have the greatest basketball player to have ever played the game, and possibly the greatest who will ever play.
MJ the only player, who I would start out rooting against, because I hate the Bulls, almost as much as I despise the Cubs, well I hate everything Chicago, except the Bears are OK, anyway, MJ is the only player, who I could start out a game rooting against, and by the end of the game I would find myself on the edge of my seat, in awe of Jordan, and would find myself rooting for them even, LOL.

This documentary couldnt have came out at a better time, and Im glad after all these yrs MJ gave his consent to air this documentary. Because I don't think this younger generation realizes the greatness of Jordan, and Im not speaking about his athletic ability and what he did on offense and defense, its the drive, and will to win, at all cost, even if it means having to drag his teammates along the way that this younger generation has no clue about. Bird, Magic, and to a extent I would say Kobe had it, but there the only ones, and even then, it wasn't to the level of Jordan.

I don't care whether your young kid who has desires of playing basketball at a high level, or any sport for that matter, you can learn from watching and studying about Jordan, and how he went about everything, to be the best, with that drive, desire and hard work, and apply it to your life in general. If you do that, you will be successful in life, regardless what you want to be or do in life.

The first 2 episodes didnt have as much swearing as I thought. It really could've been rated 14+, if not for MJ dropping several F bombs in his modern interviews. Pippen did once, but really, its MJ being the one causing the TVMA rating.

That deal was like an MLB the show contract where you can sign guys long term for very little.

How diff would the Bulls have been had they had to pay Pippen his actual worth? I'd imagine they'd be like the Warriors where they had to move guys out once others got paid. Or like Miami where you had to fill the rest of roster with vets on small deals.

Nice first episode, but I’ve watched endless shows abournthe 90’s Bulls/Michael Jordan.

I feel that I’ve seen all of those clips and interviews before ??

Am I just trippin out ?

Among the clips I'd never seen:

              1. The Scottie Pippen college highlights

              2. Possibly some Michael Jordan high school highlights (if my memory serves)

              3. MJ doing chores at his mom's house rookie year

              4. MJ chatting with David Stern in France then jokingly telling the camera they couldn't come in

              5. Scott Burrell's thirst for a hug at the end of the McDonald's Championship

              6. Jordan looking off the autograph request while dude was on the job

              7. Any of Jordan's Krause quips (lowering the hoop for him, making sure he doesn't get the McDonald's trophy)

              8. Jordan barking at Harper in practice

I'm sure I'm missing some others too. Beyond that, seeing some of the older footage in HD that I'd previously only caught in a grainy vid on YouTube has been a treat too.

I’ve actually caught a few Pippen college bits in the past, know a few guys who’ve played against him back in the day.

Gonna do a running list of rap songs that I recognize in this post:

1st Episode - Been Around the World - Puffy Daddy feat. Ma$e & Notorious B.I.G.

                    I Ain't No Joke - Erik B. & Rakim

                    Episode 2 - I'm Bad - LL Cool J

I'll edit them in as I watch.....

I don't know if anyone here has epsn plus. But Phil Jackson did a Details piece for a Bulls-Jazz game on the triangle offense. It's nice. Especially if your into triangle offense.

They put together a Spotify playlist of songs "from and inspired by 'The Last Dance'". Not sure how many are actually going to be in the 10 episodes, but here's the link:

As a college athlete (rugby), I had goosebumps when Sirius came on.

Could only imagine what it was like for the Bulls fans back in the day, I was like 6 or 7 and my parents told me I was a big mark (fan for those non wrassslin fans).

Can see both sides of the Krause/Pippen issue, but Scottie was a fool signing that deal in hindsight (it’s always 20/20). Krause (RIP) seems like a snake to me.

                          Stay safe Ya’ll.

They'll probably show more of the new footage in the final episodes. We're gonna see a year by year of the Chicago Bulls from 84 to 96 and then the new footage will be seen more and more. I'm just hoping that... I like how they go from one story to the next. Makes you want to keep watching so you can see the end of each personal story. I hope we see a lot more Rodman soon. Abd maybe some kukoc interviews. He's been quiet so far.
