Shaq is strong, but to say that he only uses his strength is wrong.he's got great feet and that killer drop step. When he uses that on you...It's game over right there, cause you'll get dunked on.

Wow, give it a rest. You made your position very clear on Shaq vs Hakeem in these other 2 threads, I really dont see the need for a third.

Re: Shaq vs. Hakeem, head to head

Look at Shaq age 23, vs. Hakeem, in those Finals. 28 pts, 59.5 fg %, 12.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists. hakeem got 32.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. How come you guys are so stupid, that you think hakeem could dominate Shaq in his prime when Shaq dominated Hakeem offensively when he was only 23 yrs old. Puhlease. You guys think Shaq didn't get MUCH better btwn 23 and 28. OMG. Gimme a break. Hakeem's numbers vs. Shaq would be worse if he had to face Shaq IN HIS PRIME. Duh. Shaq's numbers would be better than Hakeem's too.

Should we be asking how would Hakeem have done, at age 23, against Shaq that won the MVP. That proves my point exactly. Nuff said.

You've made this same argument about 8 times already and we still disagree.

Hakeem was more skilled than Shaq and I'd take Hakeem over Shaq anyday. Better offensive AND defensive player.

Who holds the all time record for blocks..........Hakeem

Re: Shaq vs. Hakeem, head to head

What is funny to me is, Hakeem is a retired player. Believe it or not, Shaq, at his current weight(325), has a good 4 or 5 years left. He has a realistic chance at about 1 or 2 rings left. Put it in context. Hakeem played at various times in his career, with Ralph Sampson, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, Kenny Smith. All those players had plenty in the tank. Hakeem won 2 rings total, and one MVP award. Shaq's 30-14- 3 block season would win him an MVP in any era outside era of Wilt. Shaq has 3 rings, 3 MVP's of the FINALS.

My point is this. Look at the two players body of work. Shaq has career numbers of 27-12, and 2.5 blocks, 3 assists. He is 32 yrs old, and still going strong. He AlREADY has 3 rings, and the man given credit for those, is struggling MIGHTILY now that Shaq has left. We now KNOW Shaq was the REASON for the 3 titles. Shaq already has his MVP. The question IS, what does Shaq accomplish right now and in the couple seasons he has left in his tank. Shaq COULD win the MVP this year, a LOT can change in 1/2 a season, if Miami wins 60 games and Shaq bumps his numbers up to 24/12, a MVP is a distinct possibility.

So put it that way. We define who is the greatest by a career. hakeem finished at 22-11-3 blocks, Shaq's numbers will probably finish around 25-12-2.5 blocks. Shaq will always have been the more dominant scorer than Hakeem, if you look at a complete career. Shaq had several seasons where he averaged just under 30 points. Hakeem didn't come close to 30. Hakeem was a slightly better shotblocker, yes, but not a better rebounder.

If Shaq gets his 4th or maybe even 5th ring, and bags one more MVP, he will have had the more illustrious career. He has already proven that Kobe was riding shotgun, as was Penny. He has rejuvanated Miami and Wade, at 32. If Shaq can finish very strong, I'd say it's pretty clear Shaq had the overall more dominant career. IF shaq is a dud from here on out, and finishes w/only 3 rings and one MVP, perhaps Hakeem was the better player. Will let Shaq finish this argument for us in the next few years. Keep in mind that Hakeem never finished second in MVP voting, his one MVP year was the only season he staked a STRONG claim for the award too.

Shaq would not have won those 3 rings without Kobe. Just like Kobe would have not won his without Shaq. They needed each other.
