Oh, about Shaq being a lazy scoring option, and bad at the pick and roll, if that's true, why has LA sucked w/o him this year. Duh. Shaq leaves, LA is 24-22. Seems like Shaq and his lazy scoring option and bad d on the pick and roll is better than you're team you are arguing for. You keep hating on Shaq, but then we put you back in your place by the fact that Shaq is doing awesome w/o LA/Kobe and LA/Kobe is 24-22, ha ha. Please, think before you speak.

Like I said, Shaq and his team.....36-14

    Kobe and his team.....24-22

Sounds like your complaints about Shaq and all the holes in his game don't mean diddly, opps, I mean driddy.....

it is true that shaq is lazy and sucks at defending the pick and roll, but the other elements of the game that he brought with him allowed the lakers to win, no one wants to stop a 7 foot 350 pound man flying through the lane unless they wanted to die

but buss had a predicament on his hand, shaq asked for a big fat contract extension, buss doesn't like paying luxury tax, he could A) keep shaq, but the way things occured last season, possibly loose kobe, keep the roster intact, but eventually the team would compete for like 2-3 years then shaq would retire payton would be gone malone would retire and buss would be stuck with a team going to the lottery, so the lakers would loose shaq/payton/malone//fisher (assuming they resigned) for nothing, leaving the team without kobe without anyone

or B) trade shaq cause he didnt want to sign the fat contract and wanted to get young players in return, and try to dismantle a dynasty while at the same time preventing the team from being a rock bottom NBA team, cause you still have kobe bryant, you still have lamar odom, and these guys are relatively young, possibly 10 more years of pro bball in them

although its looking like buss may not be succesful, it doesn't mean that wasn't his intention

Thank God m'man LeBron is a hard worker. I appreciate hard workers above all else.

Shaq's leisure-ly ways make him only the second best big man of his era. No one would dispute that. TD will win again before Shaq ever will, and you can take that to the bank.

When you can say that the most dominant player in sports history didn't have anywhere near a dominant career...Thats sad. 3 rings are great...but those 3 rings were a team effort. Only 4 1st team NBA selections in 13 years? As the supposed Alpha Male at the position?

Man, some people need to learn how to read. All KDRE said was that its likely that Shaq may know someone who's "in the know" concerning the Lakers affairs. Many people (I included) have agreed with this statement. He didnt say that "George gave him the 411" or even that Shaq knows anything. He was saying its very possible that shaq has access to insider info and George was simply an example of one such person w/in the organization that Shaq is close personal friends with... thats all.

As far as Shaq "contradicting himself" yeah he wants nothing to do with LA, meaning thats not his team anymore, miami is his team. However, he still has friends out west and connections out there. So even if he isnt concerned w/ whats going on, is it so hard to believe that just maybe someone gave the info to shaq voluntarily in a conversation? Or maybe curiosity got the best of him and he made a call. I dont give a rats *** about the Lakers, the rockets are MY team, theyre my only concern, but as a guy whos generally curious, if all I had to do is make a phone call and find out the truth behind the Rudy T situation don't you think I would? And if I did would I be contradicting myself? You all make it sound like Shaq was hiding in trash cans trying to dig up dirt on kobe. If that were the case, if he was really out to "get Kobe" and he went through all the trouble to dig up dirt on Kobe that he'd at least report his findings? Why dig up dirt on someone only to keep it to yourself? My guess is that Shaq was curious about the Rudy T situation and it wasnt that hard for him to find out what the deal is in LA LA land.

LOL. What type of idiot would expect a 7'2 300+ pound center to play on the perimeter? On top of that, a guy of his size is expected to play the low post, score, rebound, and defend the lane. I don't know what diversity you are looking for. No one who is 7'2 is going to be able to cross anyone over. And why bother shooting a jumpshot if you can shoot from the blocks without peer?

I don't even like Shaq, but this is stupid. The man makes any team he goes to a title contender.

See, there's this one play. They call it the ol' pick and roll.

When the center screens for the guard, the opposing center has to jump his *** out of the paint and at least show-up or "show". This prevents the now screened guard from penetrating easily, or taking a wide open jumper.

Prime example. Tony Parker was roasting GP, primarily because Shaq didn't "show" or get his lazy *** out of the paint to slow him down. This makes his teammates GP look like a crappy defender, even though GP was fighting hard to stay underneath the picks. This is not speculation...Tex has been saying this for years. This also lets centers who can shoot get tons of gravy looks at the basket, again, because Shaq won't leave the paint and man his assignment.

Do I expect Shaq to go out, tug his shorts up, and defend AI? Uhhh...no.

Shaq is a 1st ballot HOF, no doubt. But if he just played harder, and I'm not talking "Rudy" hard...just Admiral/Dream/Alonzo hard...he could have had a Bill Russell 11-ring career. All I'm sayin'.

Yep, it always bugged the way people knocked on GP's defense, while ignoring the fact that the pick and roll is a two man defensive assignment.

The point that is being missed in this thread called "Shaq comments" is this:

Either Shaq knew Phil was on his way out before he saw it on ESPN as he claimed, or Shaq doesn't get the kind of behind the scenes info from people within the organization. Either way he exaggerated or lied to the media, so when he makes a comment from here on out, yall should relax and not be too quick to yell "I told you so". Shaq likes to entertain, period. He aint coming forward with anything else, because its enough for him to say he knows what's going on and sheep will flock to it and conjure up all kinds of scenarios.

Now if you can see past your bias you should see this. Dont waste your breath telling me how dominant Shaq is. Since noone with any sense on this board claimed the Lakers would battle Miami for best record, I dont see what yall gain by repeating that. FYI, everyone expected Miami to have short term success.
