Only in terms of how hyped he was as a playmaker, and from someone who watched nearly every game of his rookie season.

So did Suggs tear his achilles tonight?

        EDIT: Nope, he's back.

One of the things I'm loving is his defense.

That block he made. That's why I always see comparison of Kidd

I see why people aren't crazy about Cade.

I feel like he could step right in day one and be a number one option

                  Re: NBA Draft 2021

I have no idea how/if his game even translates to the modern NBA but this Luka Garza guy out of Iowa is by far the most polished offensive player in the nation. I thought Jahlil had a nice offensive game at Duke, this guy is head and shoulders above that, though he’s a lot older.

I think it might be a stretch that he ever plays heavy minutes on an NBA roster, and not sure where he fits defensively, but there is no way I pass him up and let him slide all the way to 50 or something knowing that guys like Gasol, Joker, Lopez, Horford, Gobert, have been NBA All-Stars without being incredible mobile/athletic bigs themselves.

I think you can always teach a smart player defensive habits within a good defensive system, Steven Adams for example, the offensive potential to me makes him a first round pick. Those contending level teams in the 25-30 range could strike gold here..

I don't know about Garza, he is so slow. Like he might be too slow to have played in the 90s kind of slow.

Tacko Fall is hanging around the league though so I imagine some like Garza will too.

Very slow, but it's a bit hard to tell entirely with teams running all these small forward like players out at center. Like how much slower is he than a guy like Marc Gasol, Joker, I can't really tell until he's on the floor with guys like that. Similar to Joker and Marc he's also glued to the floor on boards and shots around the rim, like all layups no dunks lol.. But like Joker he seems crafty enough to get his shot off regardless.

And it's strange because though he is really slow up and down the court full sprint he's not really THAT slow in the half-court setting. His post footwork isn't slow, his spins aren't slow, he can move from posting on the right block out to set a screen and back down to the left block by the time the ball swings.

This isn't against great competition by any means but his spins, drops, switch pivots, etc aren't really slow like his up and down game is. He has great footwork moving laterally around the half-court set and I think that makes up for him being slow to a huge degree. Like he's very Joker-esque in a half-court setting despite being Tacko level slow running up the court.

I realize he hasn't played any good teams yet this season, and he's not going to average 34/10 on 76% from the field and 60+% from 3 for the whole year, but even back to last year he was 30 and 12 per 40 and shoots better than 60% for his TS% for his whole 4 year career.

His start to this season, which I know isn't sustainable, he's averaging 69 points per 100 possessions, with a 158 offensive rating, over 80 TS%, with a PER of 63 lol. Dude had 30 points in a half, it's beyond Zion, beyond KD, the level of offensive dominance he's had in this brief start.

I agree with you that he is slow, and I have no idea how he fits in the modern NBA or if he even does at all. I thought Jahlil would be able to and still really hasn't.. Even if Garza is a Joker level guy how many teams buy into that and it work out. Like Joker is amazing, but situationally how many teams outside of Denver ever even let him become what he's become, it's a lot of tough questions to answer when the norm is now a shot-blocking rim runner.

But he's got a better post scoring game than anybody in the last decade, he has NBA vet level footwork, can turn over either shoulder, can hit jumpers, can hit 3s, hits free-throws, sets good screens, moves very well in the half court, can post pass and re-post, he's just too polished not to try and see what he can be IMO.

Personally I believe he's too good to not make it work to some degree until he shows me otherwise, and he probably will prove me wrong lol. I think teams like the Clippers, Lakers, Bucks, Jazz who already use guys like Zubac, Gasol, Lopez, Gobert should really be trying to land him at the end of the first round because IF he can make it at the NBA level I think those teams could be getting a massive addition on the cheap.

I'll put it this way, if I'm a contending level team I'm taking a chance on him rather than a chance on the 19 year old athlete who's 5 years away from seeing any court time at all, if he even stays on the team longer than a year.

Definitely a day one starter. I just wonder about his passing.

Not that it's saying all that much, but this kid is easily the most excited I've been about a Syracuse recruit since Tyler Lydon and MCW. Obviously neither of them panned out in the NBA, but I think this kid has 1st round potential like they did.

All these passes are from the same game and it's just beautiful to watch.
